X2 Console Emulation

[size=2 font="times new roman"]Please forgive my ignorance - when X2 is running (its crashing every few minutes) should the Console Emulation drive knob make any difference to the signal. I can turn it up, down and nothing happens, or doesnt seem to. Maybe the change is subtle?
