X2: In PRV and Track View, now time ruler doesn't snap
In X2, I've played with the snap settings, but haven't been able to figure this out. I want the time ruler to snap according to the snap settings, so that when I copy from one track to another, the midi data copies to the exact location I want. I don't know if I'm using the correct terms here (e.g. "time ruler"). Thanks, Mike

Maybe I'm not explaining the problem very well. When I click in the time ruler across the top, I want the now time to snap to the snap settings. Thanks, Mike

I just checked and Snap needs to be enabled in both the PRV and the main Inspector/toolbar. If it's not enabled in both places, the now time will move anywhere you click in the PRV. If Snap is enabled in both, then it works just as you expect. Not sure if this is intended or not...

The PRV snap on/off is not independent of global snap on/off. It never was in X1 either. If global snap is off the PRV snap will be off as well. Another couple of things to check if snap isn't behaving as you expect is that the smart grid is enabled hence changing it dynamically as you change zoom level and also the intensity setting in snap preferences. If set to a light setting it can give the impression that it isn't working.

Why even have a PRV Snap in the first place if it only works in tandem with the global Snap settings? Wouldn't global Snap be enough at that point? It's not hard to hit "n."

Maybe, but when X1 first came out there wasn't a separate snap in the PRV and a riot nearly started on here..... that's why it was introduced. I can see why it follows global, it means that snap is either on or off wherever focus is. It'd probably cause just as many problems if it was on while global was off. As it is now it offers a third resolution if a user wants it, or can be left off if they don't.

I'm sorry, but I'm still not able to get the snap to work the way I want when I click in the time ruler (in track view, or PRV, or any other view that has a time ruler). Two questions to any X2 users: 1) When you're in track view, where does the now marker end up when you click in the time ruler at the top? Does it snap according to your snap settings, or does it land wherever you clicked, regardless of snap settings? 2) If it snaps, how did you get it to do that? That's how I want it to work! Thanks, Mike
