X2 Instalation of MultiSamples

Hi guys

I just aborted my X2 installation....

When it starts it starts installing the Dim Pro MultiSamples straight to the C: Drive

I remember the X1 installer having the option to pick the drive to install the samples.

Can anyone tell me if I have over looked something ?

There seem to be a bunch of multisamples installed with the SONAR installer that aren't part of the other main DimPro installation. It amounts to about 430mb so not the multi GiG files that are part of the DimPro Library but yeh it seems like a real mess.

It's a registry edit as far as I know to get Dim Pro to see the multisamples somewhere besides the default location.

Dim Pro is a big mess that I don't even use any more for this very reason. Even editng the registry doesn't let Dim Pro 1.5 see the main installation of Multisamples on my samples HDD but it does see the 480 MB that are part of the SONAR install. go figure. its a pain and I've given up. I'd like some reliable info on how to setup the installation with the multisamples on my samples HDD that actually worked. since 1.5 its been a train wreck

Yes, you can move them afterward to the same location where your main Dim Pro multisamples are stored.

    Norrie.

You will certainly be able to move them and change where DP's mulitsamples entry points to in the registry after the event even if you cannot specify where the installer puts them.

Dim Pro's installer normally lets you specify the 'multisamples' location, based on where they have been installed previously though, so I'm not sure what's happening here.

@ Johnbouy. Yeah there's a option in X1 to install the MultiSamples to the drive of choice but not with X2 or so it seems ..... :(

Seems like there is a subset of Dim Pro samples installed on the 'C' drive, but NOT used by dim pro per se. I thought it might be for "sound center".

I had to manually move those multisamples from C: as well when I installed X1 and DP.
I also had to edit the locations in the registry for Dimension Pro.
There are several registry locations, 'Dimension Pro' and 'dp', if I recall correctly.

Well I found out that Studio Instruments , Drop Zone , Dimension pro and Rapture all installs off the first file and I will have to move the content manually...

The additional content ( songs ) that you use to be able to pick where to install them also now install straight to C:\

Why would they change the installer to be like this ......

Especially as more and more we will have C: as a Flash Drive and only want programs and OS on it - NO DATA.
