X2, Komplete & APro rotaries

Just picked up a brilliant deal from Native Instruments - £169 for Komplete 9!  At first I thought I wouldn't be eligible because it's a crossgrade, but then I remembered that I do actually own an old Absynth 3 copy, so all I had to do was upgrade that (£29) first and then I was Kompleted!

Anyway, so far I have got Absynth 5 via download and have to wait a few days for the Komplete 9 box in the post.  Here's the issue at hand - ACT doesn't seem to work with Absynth!  I know I've set up the Preferences ok because I can use ACT with Rapture and Dimension just fine.

The thing is, Native Instruments have set up virtually all their instruments so that for every patch, the key controllable parameters are assigned to the same 8(?) rotaries for easy use within Kore and Maschine e.g. quite frequently Cutoff and Resonance are going to be rotaries 1 and 2.

I want to set up the 8 rotaries on my A-300PRO to do the same.  Can any of you lovely people help me with some advice?

p.s. the Summer Specials deal from Native Instruments is until the end of 30/6!

Make sure you are on X3E and the latest version of Absynth.

    And check:

    http://www.absynthtutoria...utomation-controllers/

Groove3 does a great tutorial for absynth as well.

    Cheers...

    Hi Alex,

I'm really glad you took the time to answer, I had a feeling you had both Komplete and APRO.  The tutorial link looks very good and I will try it out in the next couple of days as time allows.  Thanks.

The thing I was hoping to do was set some sort of mapping for the APRO rotaries to have them correspond to the rotaries on Maschine.  From what I've seen of Maschine (and Kore) demos, every sound patch in Komplete has their best control parameters assigned to one of the 8 rotaries, so you have immediate access to manipulate the sound.  This is a great feature for both inspiration and saving time, so I wanted to match my APRO rotaries to the ones on Maschine, then my APRO would be pre-mapped for every patch.  Do you think this would work and is it possible?

    Cheers.

p.s. No money left to upgrade to X3e at present I'm afraid, but I'm not sure they've changed anything in the area of ACT since X2 anyway.

Ah sorry I didn't read your Sonar spec properly.

With Maschine yes it should be possible (first thing you should do is make sure you are on 2.1.1).

With Maschine I definitely recommend going through a tutorial such as on Groove3 or http://maschinetutorials.com/)
This software needs to be learned, it's quite hard to wing it. I spent a whole week on it (I was using a Maschine Studio however with it, I strongly recommend getting a dedicated controller if you get the money).

It's the same with Absynth, Absynth is not that intuitive and in addition the UI is quite old compared to other NI products and needs updating. The green colour gives me headaches but that's probably just me. Strongly recommend tutorials on that one as well.

Groove3 have a ton of Native Instruments tutorials, I would recommend taking out a year subscription and learn it all. You also get tutorials to do with X2 and other Cakewalk plugins thrown in.

    Cheers.
