X2: Server Busy Message (SOLVED)

I'm not sure if this is an X2 issue or not.

When I try to load a VST (on occasion, not always) I get a box that says:

Server Busy

"The action cannot be completed. Choose "Switch To" to activate the busy program and correct the problem."

I also just saw this message when I opened the project.

I'm running X2 64 bit with no 32 bit plugins.

Not sure if there's something running in the background that's not Sonar related. I checked and didn't see anything unusual.

Anyone else seen this?

Does it happen when you create a new project/open a blank project?

One of your plugins is probably trying to contact an internet site for registration purposes?
p.s. Your footer shows older versions of Sonar.
    Cheers.

Hi Alex, it doesn't happen when I open a new project only when I try to add a VST. I'm trying to track down the offender, if there is one. It might be EZ-Keys but I'm sure.

All my software is regsitered and legit so I'm at a loss. When it happens the start window in Win 7 also pops up. Very strange. Never saw this before X2.

    I'll fix my signature. Thanks.

Could still be happening whether it is registered or not.

    Attempt diagnose this way perhaps:

    Click the Windows start button.
Type Event Viewer at the bottom and start it.
    Click Custom Views.
    Click Administrative Events

See if you can find an error message like the problem you have here... if so paste it.

    pwal, THANKS!

Odd that I never saw it on 8.5 or X1. I don't do anything different BUT that does answer (and solve) the issue.

    Re:X2: Server Busy Message 2012/10/19 15:41:24 (permalink)
    Windows process still in progress.

"That "server busy ..." message is from Windows and it's a standard part of an internal mechanism (OLE) that is used to send things ("objects") from one process to another. It happens when one process sends an object (e.g. a file) to another process that is busy, or gets busy processing the object that was sent. When that receiving process does not respond very soon back to the sending process, that dialog is displayed. The dialog will eventually go away when the target process finishes.

An example is drag-and-drop. It can happen e.g. when you drag something from one process to another process that then takes a very long time to process it, e.g. copying or moving a file or folder.

There is not much the sending process (e.g. dragged from) can do about it except set flags or timers in advance to basically ignore the whole thing. I've never noticed any case where the dialog is actually helpful.

The best you might be able to do is guess what you did to cause one process to send something to another process while that process was busy or got busy from what you dragged.

I still intend to do this. I was in a rush when I made my last post so I forgot to mention that.
