X2 doesn't seem to like cloning multiple MIDI tracks. Caused graphical weirdness.

I tried to clone my BFD track folder. It didn't clone it but what it DID do was create a weird black space where the Browser usually goes with a bunch of gray lines at the bottom. I couldn't get it to go away. I had just saved the project before attempting this so I just closed and reopened and all was well. Weird.

Is this a situation where a track template might be used instead?

@scook... Yes but darned if I can figure out how to save a template in X2. I'll be looking through the manual later for that function but right now I just saved a new instance of the project and deleted the old events. It was just the simple drum beds I laid down to record the guitar and bass over. I have the first version of the project where I had set up the tracks and BFD the way I want saved for future projects. Cheers.

I've created project templates, but never a track template.  If you end up doing that please post on it - sound like fun.

What I did was to get a set of default tracks (piano/vocal/guitar/bass) and things like a drum folder with multiple outputs and levels and such connected to Battery 3, and then saved it as a project template.

When I start a new project, I usually use this reconfigured one, and it gives me a great starting point for many projects.  Oh, I also have multiple display monitors, so in this template I also have the console split off to the 2nd display - makes things much easier to work on.  I experimented with a 3rd monitor, but ended up not bothering with it and just use 2 now.  The main one is a 46" HDTV and the secondary is a 32" HDTV.  For whatever the worth, you can buy 32" HDTV displays for about $200 USD these days.  Works well for us old folks.

One simple way to save a track template is right click on the track.

What I find very useful about track templates is that the bus configurations are saved with the template. So for instance, I have my favorite vocal template that I drag and drop on a new project and all of the buses are created, routed and loaded. This has become a "more often than not" way to work for me.

For some reason in X2 when I right click it's not giving me the Save Track Template option... or I'm going blind. I know it's in there somewhere.

You need to right click on the left side of the track, not the clips pane, where the track name, MSR etc. are.  It's the fourth option in the drop down menu.

Yeah, that's where I've been looking but I couldn't see it. I'll check again later though if that's where it's supposed to be. Could just be my mind playing tricks on me (I've been messing with X2 for like 8 hours a day lately... I like it that much). It should say "Save Track Template" or something like that right in the main R+C menu should it not? Or is it a sub menu? Thanks.

MIDI track = fourth option down.  Audio track = fifth option own.  It says "Save as Track Template".  It does not appear if youclick in the clips pain, it needs to be where the track name, buttons etc. are.

Yup, that's where I've been looking. The long menu with all the track options. I seem to remember in X1 having an option to save a folder template as well but I'm not seeing that one either. I'll figure it out. Thanks.
