It appears the DSP plug-ins are not bundled with X3. There is never a need to install a full version of an older version of SONAR to pickup the discontinued plug-ins, run the advanced install option and select the plug-ins needed. FWIW, the DSP series are 32bit DirectX plug-ins so will not be recognized by 64bit SONAR. Also consider updating X3a to X3e before using it. The update is here http://www.cakewalk.com/S...13361/SONAR-X3e-Update

damn. u right about the 32 bits. that chorus was so good. there's really not a way to make it work with x3 64bits? it sucks. :(

The Blue Tubes chorus is pretty sweet. Also the DirectX one that started to be included with Project5 still works and has quite a few options. Might be worth poking around some of the other options, you'll likely be able to replicate the same sound you got with the 32-bit version.

Install the 32bit version of X3 in addition to the 64bit version. Even if you manage to get the 32bit DirectX plug-ins usable in 64bit SONAR, I do not believe they will look like the same plug-ins to the project. The only way 32bit DirectX plug-ins might load into a 64bit host is wrap the plug-ins with a DX-to-VST wrapper so BitBridge will see them. There is no bridge for DirectX.

To open old projects using FXChorus install a 32bit version of SONAR. Both 32bit and 64bit versions may be installed on the same machine. There is no way to bridge non-dll format DirectX binaries.

Unfortunately there's little choice.  I don't believe DX-VST wrappers work with DX plugins using the .ax format, just those that are .dlls.   I'd love to have the old FX series as VSTs, or even 64bit DXs, but I doubt that'll ever happen given the variety of good plugins we have these days.

Oh, I hear ya!   I have lots of old projects that have the FX series plugins scattered all over the place.  The chorus, flange, reverb and delay were favorites at the time.

If and when I ever choose to resurrect any of those, I've come to accept the fact that I will need to install a 32bit version of SONAR... something I haven't seen in years...

That requires the DirectX binaries be dll format. Unfortunately, not all DirectX plug-ins are dll's. The DSP-FX Chorus mentioned in this thread is not a dll. The wrapper mentioned on the page also works in BitBridge (when it works).

I would think you would want to install the VST version of the Steinberg plug-in though rather than mess with wrapping the DirectX version. Relying on bridging wrapped DirectX plug-ins is not a good long term solution.
