X2 won't install
Hi there, I am desperate because I cannot install x2 procucer. I run "x2 producer part 1" and the content check works well. After that the installatin starts and alle the unpacking works well. The verfication process works well. And then I get the message "Cannot read rewire.dll. The file is damaged" or something like that. Even if I click on "Ignore" the nex file cannot be read and so on. I have downloaded all the installation files onece again. Always the same problem. It is an upgrade. And I have uninstalled x1 before. However, I have read that it is not neccwssary to keep x1 on the computer since x2 upgrade is the whole new programme. It drives me crazy. I have no idea what I an do now. Any ideas? Thanks Jedi

Are you running as "Administrator"? If not give that a try. RIGHT click on the Part 1 and then LEFT click "Run As Administrator" and see if that helps (even if your log on is Administrator).

If you're downloading the files with Internet Explorer you need to run a download manager (download freedownloadmanager) to make sure the files download intact because of their size. Better yet, use Chrome (or Firefox) for the download. They have a built-in download manager.

I use Internet Explorer and do not have a download manger. I had no problem downloading all the files (I put them in a separate folder) and running/installing.

Thanks guys. I have considered all this. I am running the installation as an administrator. I use a download manager. I have switched off internet security and my connection ist hardwired. In the beginning of the installation, when all the content is checked, there are noc problems. And unpacking the files doesn't cause any problems either. Only when the dlls are about to install it does not work anymore. Also the sonarpr.exe is damaged. I really do not know what to do anymore.

hmmm... let me throw this out there is the SONAR installer looking for rewire.dll on your system and finding a corrupt file and failing there? if thats the case the download had nothing to do with it, you have a corrupt file on your system and the SONAR installer wont recognize it and work with it, if thats it you need to reinstall whatever put the rewire.dll file there, then maybe SONAR's installer will be happy

rewire.dll Hmm, I don't think so. There's no rewire.dll on the computer. The computer is new, There is no music software on it. And when I click on "ignore" the installer tells me that the next file is damaged and when I click on "ignore" it tells me that sonarpr.exe cannot be read and is damaged ... !?

Only other thing I can think of would be to try a different browser to download (I used Firefox and my download was fine). If you can't get it working give Cake tech support a call on monday. Something ain't right. If you are in the US the call is toll free but even if you are calling from another country it should take too long IF you do the following. Fill out the tech support form http://www.cakewalk.com/s.../TechnicalSupport.aspx and include as much detail as you can about the system, what is wrong and the solutions you have tried already (send them this thread as well... it might help). Write down the support ticket number the form will generate. Call them and reference the support ticket so they can pull up the info on their system. This way you won't have to waste long distance minutes describing the problem. Once they have enough info you can ask them to just email you their solution(s) again saving long distance. Unfortunately sometimes calling them is the only way to get a timely response. All the contact info is here http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2153831 Good luck.

didnt know it was new, do you have any needed service packs or updates, might be worth a trip to check the SONAR prerequsites for your system assuming, just assuming, the download is ok, you said you DL'ed twice using a manager, is the HD ok?, are system files healthy?, i knew its new but checking it for HD and system file errors couldnt hurt, run the error checking utility on your drives... Drive Properties > Tools, and "sfc /scannow" on the command prompt as admin might turn up something also check events logged in Control Panel > Admin Tools > Event Viewer, do they say anything about the errors? maybe check for a SONAR install log file somewhere after that i would consider calling Cakewalk, good luck

Do you still have X1 installed? If so try rebuilding the ini. file in X1. Not at my recording box now but I know it's in the 'preference' menu, (you'll have to click 'Advanced' to see it.) Not sure it'll help but it cant hurt. Maybe you used something in X1 or perhaps another DAW that installed a rewire dll. Have you done a search for the rewire dll.? Maybe you can find it and delete it. Just tossing out random thoughts here. Mike

Oh and if you installed X2 then went and deleted X1 that could cause problems too. From your OP I don't think you did that but if you did that may have caused the issue. Mike

We had a member think X2 wouldn't install when it had. You are only clicking on the first file right? You are not trying to install all the downloaded files one after the other right?
