X2a Pentagon I crashing

I'm thinking of stepping outside my normal comfort zone and trying something more electronic and dance oriented.
 
I start up an empty project, loaded pentagon I and started to browse through the presets. It works fine for a while but then starts behaving strangely and peaking the meters. Luckily x2 clips the sound so it does not blow my equipment.  Then it hangs x2 and I have to kill the program.
 
I started again and it works for a while and begins to act strangely again.
 
I tried psyn II and it seems to behave ok.
 
Has anyone else noticed this behavior with Pentagon I?

    There is a known issue with Pentagon patches that use the Valleys simulator. Avoid those patches. Related thread http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2708401

    Thanks. Does the VST version of the plug have the same issues?

    Don't know, only have the 64bit DXi version that ships with SONAR.
