X2a mostly stable, except when audio is running and I'm doing other none recording tasks

I had a few full day session lately and crashed X2a a few times while the audio is running and I'm doing these. I must say, it happens once a while, not all the time :

- saving project
- opening effects
- changing soft synth patches. I'll loop a section to preview different presets.
- pressing the space bar (start/stop) fast or repeated record/undo (ctrl-z) key press. This action, mostly caused Sonar to locks up - you can see the now time moving forward, but it can't be stopped.

Normally I would stop the audio before doing these, but since X2 is capable while the audio is running, I just did it without thinking to press stop.

    I manage to avoid these types of burps by increasing my buffers when I'm not tracking. When I'm recording stuff I keep my buffers at their lowest setting and fortunately I built my rig powerful enough that I can do this without any audible latency or cracks/pops/dropouts (surprising as it was my first build). However if I forget to up the buffers when I move on to editing, adding effects, adjusting parameters, general mayhem, etc... that's when I start having little hiccups, white screens, odd behavior and occasionally crashes. 

    It's such a basic simple little addition to my work habits but it makes things SOOO much easier. In fact thanks for reminding me because I was about to do some surgery on a scratch track I've been messing with today and I would have forgotten to bump up the buffers without this thread.

    Oh and by upping the buffers the realtime adjustments during playback become much more reliable. That was kind of the point of what I was trying to say. Having the buffers cranked doesn't seem to matter unless you are actually trying to lay down a track... but I'm sure you already know that.

    Beep, fill us in on buffers.. I had someone mention this before and I forgot the details. I'm not to up on dinking with sonar's advanced settings..

    This shouldn't be happening. Please contact tech support so we can trouble shoot this issue. It's easy to blame the program but sometimes it can be a configuration issue that we can resolve.

    Hi, Super G. If you are using ASIO you don't change anything in Sonar. You want to open the ASIO panel of your interface software. I have a Scarlett 18i6 so I just go to Settings and choose a higher number (lowest is 1ms then it goes up in increments from there). Check your interface's manual on where to look for this option. It varies from device to device but it all accomplishes the same thing. You are supposed to be able to access your interface's ASIO panel through the Preferences menu in Sonar as well but that never seems to open the ScarlettMix software for me for some reason. However I believe the path is Edit > Preferences > Audio - Devices then look for a button that says something like "Open ASIO panel". It SHOULD open up your interfaces driver software and hopefully point you to the buffer settings.

    Now keep in mind I'm fairly new to all this so I may be screwing something up in this description but I've been adjusting the buffers on my Scarlett directly since I started with Sonar and it usually solves any dropout problems.

    Sorry.. don't mean to add more to the 'stable daw' thread.. I just posted this topic following my finding. However, I've been mixing the whole day, and X2a works great - not a single glitch. Next time when I do long recording session.. I take note again.
