X2a--Rewind to Now Marker and Undo Recording -- BUGS!!!!
Anybody else have these problems? (I'm using Windows 7.) BAD new X2a bugs for me. With "Rewind to Now Marker" checked, after recording, I hit stop, and the now time line pauses for about 6 seconds before rewinding to the now time marker marker. It used to be instantaneous before the X2a "fix." Talk about a workflow issue. Also, when I hit undo recording, whether from the menu or with Ctrl+Z, Sonar sometimes blink out momentarily (white screen), sometimes "rebuilds" all previous tracks, or pauses for about 4 seconds (the circle cursor-thingy starts rotating). More: Sometimes, when using take lanes, for undoing a take, You have to "undo add take lane" then "undo recording." That is double the keystrokes to undo a recording before X2a. This is intermittent, however. I do a lot of takes and undoing recording. I wish Cake (or I) had waited until after Xmas to ship this buggy fix. These are the worst bugs I've ever experienced in 10 years with Sonar. I can't work around them. In fact, I can't work at all in Sonar X2a. Help! tech guys: How do I role back to X2 (before fix) in Windows 7?

Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to list your specs and how many/what kind of tracks you're playing and recording (what effects and if you're using IM). I'd also check your hard drive. It might be going or need a major defrag. I'm not running into any of that on my crappy old computer, but that probably doesn't mean anything.

Have 22 tracks previously recorded, each with 4-5 takes. But all of those tracks are archived. I'm recording 2 tracks of guitar (2 mics on the amp) to a metronome. There was no problem like this before the update. System: Intel Core i7 960 processor. 3.2GHz quad core running Windows7 64. Using X2 64.

Yeah, definitely weird. That's not really a huge load or anything. Might be something going on with your picture cache. Maybe take a look in that folder and see if there are massive amounts of files in there. Sounds like most of the problems you're getting are related to waveform computing. You could always clear that folder out, let Sonar recompute and see if it helps.

Now the Now Time Marker has totally disappeared!! I often clear the folder, but will do so again. Ok, done again. I recomputed all the pictures. Same problem. I recorded two tracks, hit undo recording, then Sonar opened up all the previous take lanes simultaneously, then closed them again--all on its own. This is totally wacked. I re-checked all my preference settings. They are all the same as before the update. Also--to clarify. I do not seem to have this problem when creating a new project. It's the older project (created with X2) with multiple tracks and take lanes that is the problem project. However, this issue did not exist before the update. I was recording fine.

Just curious - what kinds of effect plugins are on these tracks? Can you see what happens if you take those off? (just for a test). I do not have any of those issues at all, and am just wondering if there are any issues caused by something 'applied' to one or more of these tracks. Bob Bone

No effects in the project. Just for kicks, I opened the project in X1. The take lanes had been converted to layers, but many more empty layers were added to each track, for some reason! However, the project recorded more audio takes in the same armed tracks--just fine. No delay in returning to Now marker, no delay after undoing recording. (Of course, I did not save the project in X1.) I think they introduced a new bug with the Now Time marker enhancement.
