X3 Automation Lane/Take Lane button changes track/folder selection

Ran into a little problem Exporting in X3 Producer. 
 
Setup:  About 15 tracks, with drums in separate folder. Use Ctrl-A to select all tracks, including the Drums folder.  While 'everything' is selected I can de-select an individual track by Ctrl-Click.  Problem: if I happen to hit the Automation or Take lane button on a track the entire drums FOLDER is deselected; remaining tracks remain selected.  (Discovered this when a mixed song was missing all drums).
 
Why did I click the 'Automation Lane' button?  Because had been using it to make adjustments before export, and closed it more or less out of habit, after Ctrl-A, but before Export.
 
So... is this a 'bug' or wonky-but-expected behavior?
