Usually months after the release of the program.

Once X3 is released and has its first patch to ensure stability they'll probably release the demo. Maybe 4 to 6 months.

I believe the OP really wants the trial version of SONAR X3, but I could be wrong. The trial version has yet to be released.

I think they are going to release a trial after X3c patch which includes video improvements. I hope It does not take so long time.

It'll be a long wait (and a few patches later) .. maybe around the time of a show... that's what seemed to happened in the past.

I feel it is brash of Cakewalk to release X3 without a trial/demo, after treating loyal users to a communication blackout for most of 2013. Clearly, many X2 users have issues with the unbaked software. It's uncool to ask these users to pay up to see what was fixed vs how many new bugs were introduced. I really hope Cakewalk is on a better path with X3. I just do not "trust" them yet. Who knows what nagging bugs will be left-over/created after X3d. Will Cakewalk go back into hiding to make X4, while those who use the program in different ways remain frustrated and in the dark? Semi-patiently hoping for the best...

I'm still waiting too. It was tough, but I had to turn and look the other way with that free $20 they offered by last year's end!

so to adjust the question slightly, and give a small bump, will there be a demo of x3 at all?

Good work. Also, Sonar's release cycle is shorter than that of those daws, so the demo should be available with the release. I prefer a 2-year release cycle, though (like when it was X1).

just in time for x4? New trend in demo timing?? I'd prefer to demo the current version rather than the previous...

Question to the group or a Cake Tech... I downloaded the X3 Producer demo last night, installed it, liked it, and then bought the upgrade. The demo download was 1.4GB and the installed version is X3d. After the demo splash screen, a dialog box asks to register. I did not yet. Now my question... The demo installed was a convenient one-part package, but is it the same as downloading all of the parts from the Cakewalk storefront? Should I just register the demo copy, so it then goes to full, then update to X3e? Or should I uninstall the demo, then download all the parts from the Store, then reinstall. I would, of course, chose the latter if it really mattered, like the demo software is missing key components, etc. Thanks!

Uninstall the demo. Then install the full version. Then apply the X3e patch.

It's a sound plan, but won't that just reinstall the loops, samples, one-shots, VST's, etc. etc. that I already have from my X2a installation? When the X3 demo installed, it looked up and referenced all the previously installed components.

The trial version is not the complete version of Producer. Remove the trial and install the full version of X3. DimPro and "Loops and One Shots" are separate installers. If X2 Producer is already installed, skip those installers. By full version of X3, I refer to the 4 files 02_SONAR_X3_Producer.part1.exe through 02_SONAR_X3_Producer.part4.exe. See the link at the bottom of the download installation instructions. The full version includes the Blue Tubes plug-ins, Tape Emulation, Flyout Quad EQ modules and more. It also includes the Melodyne installer.

OK, thanks Scook. I am finishing the downloads as we speak. Thank goodness for high-speed internet!
