X3 Pro reinstall

Hello,

I will be doing a reinstall of X3 Pro soon.  In my current DAW system drive, I have X1 Studio, X2 Pro, and X3 Pro installed.  For the reinstall, I'd prefer to only install X3, but I don't know what I would lose if I didn't install X1 and X2.  Is there a list somewhere that shows what plug-ins were dropped from X1 to X2 and from X2 to X3?

Thank you,

Todd

If X1 had a version of Guitar Rig, it was dropped. X2 Producer included V-Vocal, R-Mix and VC-64.

+1 everybody here. You should backup first onto an external hardrive or something with (something like) Acronis True Image in case you need to restore. If you don't have a backup strategy time to get one anyway.. :)

Thanks Alex.  I do routine backups with Syncback.  After I install the new SSD, and load Win 7 on it, I'll reconnect my old HDD/C/System drive for access to all my old files and directories that were on the old C.

You can do a custom installs of X1 and X2, as I have just done over the last couple of days, cherry picking the bits you want that do not come with X3 Pro.

I agree about disk imaging but would never recommend Acronis.
Been there ... use it ... it's slow, not as reliable (as Macrium) and ... it costs money.

I've switched to Macrium Reflect ( the free version ) and am satisfied to the point where I'm not even considering an other option. Reflect's boot rescue options are also much more advanced. Bootable USB stick and CD are easily created.
I've tried a lot of them ... Drive Image, Norton Ghost, Acronis ...
and I like Macrium Reflect much better than the others.

Thanks Wookiee.  Can this be done after the X3 install?  I've just installed the new SSD and will be loading X3 within an hour or two.

Sorry I did not see this earlier and hope it does not make any difference yes, but it would be better to do it in order, but if you are careful you can install just one thing, for instance I wanted the lexicon pantheon reverb which came with 8.5 and I really like.

So have I. Norton Ghost does not support Windows 8, its bacically reached end of life and has been run down into the ground sadly like most of it's products. Acronis 2014 works beautifully as I'm sure your solution does. I suspect it's moved quite a lot forward since you last used it and there is a trial, it is fast and reliable, and has a ton of features that aren't gimmicks which work. Boot disks work fine as well.

That was one of my primary reasons for wanting to install X1.  I just copied over the DLL, hoping that would do it.  Doesn't look like it did.  I'll probably just let that one go.  Have a brand new install now, clean, and don't want to clutter it up any.

It may be possible to get the Lexicon Pantheon to run by registering the dll with regsvr32 but the better way would be running the advanced install of a version of SONAR older than X1 and selectively install the Lexicon Pantheon. X1 does not include the Lexicon Pantheon.

+bing I also wanted to be able to load a couple of old projects that seem to make any of the X series ones just puke.
