X3 Producer: Cakewalk FaultReporter won't allow project to load
It doesn't report faults so can I somehow get rid or it?

This isn't global; I've opened another project. But the project I opened first wouldn't open, including earlier iterations.

No. Why, exactly, should I have to?

I mean, why do I have to run diagnostics and do troubleshooting all the time, just to open a project? Do you need lock picking or safe cracking skills because every other day your key won't allow you to enter your house?

Yes. And it worked. Or, at least, it works for now. But That raised new questions. Why did I have to do that, why didn't it work without that and why did it work with that?

Your right.. you shouldn't have to do any diagnostics or troubleshooting in order to "solve a problem". Good luck.

jonnewyork, Chuck is another user....just like you. He kindly offered a solution- temporary or not - to your problem. You tried his solution, and it worked. The least you could do is say thank you.

I appreciate the help. But I'd like to know why it has to be started in safe mode because, for one thing, it isn't the real solution. After starting the project in safe mode and working on the project, I saves it to an external hard drive. When I went to try save it to another external hard drive as I customarily do, the computer crashed.

Here's a clue. The question you are asking can only realistically be answered by the people who designed, built, tested, and released the software. The chances of another end user being able to go into depth with you on why a piece of software requires specific steps in order to solve an intermittent problem are slim, at best. 99.9% of the people on this forum are end users, just like you. So, why the hell would you EXPECT them to know the answer to why an esoteric problem occurs, and why you need to take specific steps to address it, when you (another end user) have no clue? Got a problem, contact tech support. Good luck.................

What the hell makes you think I EXPECT them to know the answer? I never said I did. All I did was ask. I just bumped the thread because there's a lot of traffic at this site and I thought I'd give people another opportunity to see it in case there are users who encountered similar situations and found a solution or a work-around who hadn't seen it. I'll let it drop now. I know this is the internet, but please try to be a little less arrogant.

Usually when people ask a question, and want to bump a thread for more answers, they simply say "bump". In your case, the "eye rolling" emoji in your bump indicates exasperation over an unmet expectation. I figured you knew this. I'm guessing that's why you used it. If I read your intention wrong, I apologize. As for arrogance, I'm not sure how prodding someone to say thank you for help given is arrogant, but okay. Also not sure how confronting someone on what appears to be an unrealistic expectation is arrogant, but okay. However, sarcasm in the face of help offered can certainly be construed as arrogance, hence my reply to this jonnewyork I mean, why do I have to run diagnostics and do troubleshooting all the time, just to open a project? But, what the heck. By the way, did you read this thread? http://forum.cakewalk.com/Turn-Off-Fault-Reporter-m3704078.aspx Maybe it will provide some clues for you. At any rate, good luck, no hard feelings on my end.

I had no idea the emoticon was so fraught. I wasn't even thinking of it as eye-rolling, since it looks like people do when they're thinking -- they are actually accessing different "files" in their brains. Anyway, sorry for the inadvertent smiley abuse ;-) But, what the heck. Thanks. I read the thread. I checked "always use offline help" in prefs; that should fix it. It just seems odd that I should have this problem -- I've been using Sonar since Sonar 6 and it has never cropped up before. Anyway, thanks again Earwax, and thanks Chuckebaby. Sorry for any misunderstanding.
