X3 - a fantastic update I M O!

Downloaded X3 today, and have tried it for some hours now:)
Still have X2 installed, had X1 before and 8.5 before that... For me, the X1 version was a huge step forward, and I really like the GUI from X1->X3...

Anyways. With X3 there are some major improvements that made my day...When hearing that Gibson was buying Cakewalk, I was seriously considering to switch to the Dark Side... However, now I am happy again:) My personal favorites...

1. The improved  EQ with built-in analysis function. Didn't like the previous PC EQ, as it was two little to work with. Also lacked a good analyzer. I always had to use a 3rd party EQ before. No need anymore:)
2. Ability to coloring trax and buses. Easy and a natural step. Easy to use!
3. Melodyne built in:) Great, would love to have the Editor version, but later on;)
4. The Nomad Plugins:) Great plugins, but maybe not my "to go" FX as I have PSP MixPack 2 and Soundtoys. Still high quality plugins which may come handy:)
5. Bug fixes. Run smoother and seem more stable.
6. Addictive Drums - Sound amazing! Still use Battery 4 mostly though.
7. Lounge Lizard Electric piano:) Wow!!. Sound fantastic! Have never used a real Rhodes but still, seem to be close to the original sound...
8. The new Tone2 BiFilter2

I have to agree that one thing in sonar's bag of tricks that was sorely missing from a sound design or dance music viewpoint was a really really good filter.  i love how tone2 designed theirs... pure ear candy. :)

I'm looking forward to trying the Tone2 filter. I agree, Sonar needed a decent dedicated filter for electronic styles.

Have you tried Tone2's Firebird synth? Absolutely awesome sound and now totally free!

For best free softsynth ever, it would have to be a toss-up between Tone2 Firebird and U-HE Tyrell N6, thank me later.

+1 that Tyrell N6 is hot.  I use it a lot

Re: X3 - a fantastic update I M O! 2013/10/01 16:07:09 (permalink)
I downloaded X3 Producer (Sonar user since 8.5) over the weekend, been using it pretty heavily (almost 45 tracks) with plug-ins, "Rock Solid" it's an awesome upgrade. The added items only make it truly "Special" so much fun to work with! Everything works great, and I like the fact it's very "honest" sounding (before any eq, filters, special efx)
I like to record instruments as natural as what you hear in a room, then in mixing add adjustments w/efx. I've thrown a lot into the first song with X3, so far perfect all
around! Using the new and updated processing just makes the work flow faster and intuitive.

Happy Sonar user :)
