Where do you read about it? I see no information about any X3. Thanks.

I've never seen Cakewalk release an upgrade on the weekend but there is always a first time for everything and there's rumor that the date is Oct 7th. Only they know, I'd like to see a video on the new features first.

I'm wondering if they're going to offer a free upgrade for anyone who bought X2 after a certain date. That's how I ended up with a free upgrade from X1 to X2 last year. Seems like they were pushing X2 until just a week or two ago (at least they were on their Facebook feed) and it seems a little rough to have sprung the appearance of X3 out of the blue like this (in fact they haven't even announced it officially yet).
JamesWindows 10, Sonar SPlat (64-bit), Intel i7-4930K, 32GB RAM, RME Babyface, AKAI MPK Mini, Roland A-800 Pro, Focusrite VRM Box, Komplete 10 Ultimate, 2012 American Telecaster!

Until you see it announced on www.cakewalk.com, it's all rumour, speculation and prematurely leaked advertising. Let's all just take a breath.

X2 was heavily discounted for the past two months. The price will even out to the same if you upgraded or if you had waited in most cases.

While I'm hoping for a release tomorrow, because then I have most of the weekend to play with a new toy, it is probably going to be the 1st or the 8th. Software retail releases are, for whatever reason, done on Tuesday. Maybe audio software is different, but that is when games n' such release at retailers in the US. I don't know why they like Tuesday, but they do. Developers like Cakewalk go along with it, of course, because they need the chains happy. While Digital Distribution is growing, you are still DOA if stores don't carry your stuff.

Hey Andrew, I just want to let you know that I personally appreciate your`s and other cakewalk`s personal time here to re-initiate fresh lifeblood into the forums with some real meangingful postings. I`ve been with Cake since DOS and will remain a full supporter. I believe the engineering talent, works very hard at providing us users, the most fun, interesting and useful DAW. Peroid..... I have other DAWs, and use them for different projects, each one has different strengths and weaknesses. Sonar is my main DAW, as long as Noel and all the other team desingers are out there working on our beloved Sonar, my heart tells me that, their heart is in their work as much as mine is in composing music. Business complicates the engineering processes, but I have never been dissipointed in a Sonar release. I want to see cakewalk survive and thrive, I believe the new merger, with Gibson and Mr. Anderton`s expertise will push Cakewalk`s products to new highs. I will be right up front and ready for X3, as soon as I can download it and get to work exploring these new highs. You can be a pessimist or a optimist, I choose to look forward and embrace the future, life is to short, businesses crumble in weak economic conditions, I want my favorite music software team to move on and continue developing Sonar. Rock on Cakewalk, I stand with you, I know others do too! Don Belisle Cakewalk for DOS 1989 - Sonar 1 thru X2a

myconsumerclub so what will someone who recently upgraded to x2 a week or so ago be given for having bought the old version so close to the new launch?
What did you pay for it? Was it 50% off? Then no. You got it on sale. The price will work itself out if you upgrade to X3 in most cases. It would be vastly unfair to give folks who paid $49 a free upgrade to a product that is $149 just because they bought it a few weeks ago. We took this all into consideration awhile ago.

Remember how patterns were extended. Say you had pattern A1. To double the pattern you typed... A1+A1=A2. I think that was the way it was done in 2.0 but it could have been another version.
