X3 install: Something always goes wrong: anything after Rapture?

As I say, something always goes wrong. It was installing. It installed Melodine. Then it attempted to install Rapture. Why is there no detection that I already have Rapture? So I clicked on "Cancel", thinking- it would skip Rapture and continue with the other stuff. But no- it stopped entire X3 installation. I did not use custom install because it was asking me to reinstall all the plug ins from Sonar X2 again- I thought- I would let it do it, but it made no sense to reinstall Rapture. How much more is there to install after Rapture? I could not tell what it already did. Should I run install again? Thanks.

I know- many of you installed X3, and re-installed or installed Rapture first time. It takes human action to agree to license and such. Was it the end of installation, or was it continue to install something else? Can not use my install- trying to figure out if I need to run it again, or not. Thank you.

I'd like to know this too.  I canceled my rapture installation (forgot to uncheck it in custom install) because I already had the same version. The install process stopped immediately after that, so I'm wondering too whether there was supposed to be anything after that.

It's the very last installer step, aside from offering to show the readme and launch X3. So you should not be missing anything. This is an issue, though, as we should be showing that final page of the installer regardless of how the Rapture install exits. We'll take a look at it. But, ultimately, this is harmless.

Thank you for your reply! I got the final page where it offers "read me" file and to launch X3. I was just wondering if it was intended to do something else and was interrapted, because it took very few minutes for the entire installation- I was preparing to spend 30 minutes to install it. I did not install "Loops and One Shots"- I assume- they did not change- I only downloaded part 1 through 4, nothing else. Is this all I need? Also- will my MP3 converter I purchased few weeks ago work with X3? Thank you.

In that case, it sounds like things worked correctly. If you had X2 Producer, all you really need to install, outside of what you already have, is Addictive Drums.

Thank you. One more question: Melodyne Essential with ARA integration: I think it was asking me if I want to install VST or ARA and I selected VST and de-selected ARA. Is it possible, or was it something else? I did not know what is ARA and I think- I only installed VST, so do I need to go back and re-install it? How do I do it?

If you installed the VST3 version, SONAR will pick it up. The easiest way to confirm you did it right (and I have a feeling you did) is by going to the region FX menu in SONAR's track view, seen at the top here:

If you see Melodyne listed in there, you're in good shape.

I can see Melodyne in FX menu, I clicked on "Regions" and it is ready to register. But I am pretty sure I did not install ARA version. On the web site, it says, "By adding support for ARA technology (Audio Random Access), we were able to seamlessly integrate Melodyne  Essential into SONAR's Skylight interface. This means no waiting for data to transfer into the Editor.                Simply click to open the audio clip and get to work." Does it mean- it will not work without ARA the way it states? Thank you.

If it's anything like S1, it's the VST3 version that makes it available via ARA - IOW, there is no ARA "version", it's just the VST3 version that's needed.

I don't know- I remember something asked me about ARA version and I unchecked it. How do I get it back? It would not let me to go back and install Melodyne only in custom install mode. I have tried to open the wav, and it opened something with white background, but my original wav clip became solid yellow (no wav image) and said, "busy" as if it was loading. Suspicious!

Also "Open Editor" function is grayed out, I can "Create Region FX" if I select wav clip. But shouldn't I be able to open Editor?

You need an ARA clip selected for "Open Editor" to become available.

What is ARA clip? When regular clip selected, it only has option for "Create Region FX". Also I have tried Custom installation and disabled everything except melodyne, so it was ready to install, but I got scared and canceled it. Shold I leave only Melodyne checked and go with installation and see if there ARA option to install? Thank you.
