X3 installation question

Hi!

I purchased X3 and currently try to get it to download to what appears to be the remotest place on earth when it comes to download bandwidth ...

Anyway, eventually I'll get it. Meanwhile I got 2 questions regarding the installation:
  • Do I need to download / install "03 Loops And One Shots" and "04 Dimension Pro 1 5 Setup" if I have a full X2a installation. I would assume that these packages are the same ... ??? Or is there some licensing issue or bug fix in those packages (I don't find any documentation).
  • Is there any way to transfer / install XLN Audio Addictive Drums to a DAW which is not on the internet? Download instructions say you have got to be connected, but my main DAW isn't. It could use my fallback system for the download, but can I then transfer AD to the main DAW?

1. They're the same, no need.
2. Short answer: no. If you must absolutely have a work-around, search the forum.

For # 2 I plan to try this: http://www.xlnaudio.com/support-knowledge_base-offline_installation_of_addictive_keys

It's not written for AD, but the process looks like it might work.

I don't think you got a chance ...

I have installed AD on one DAW via the online installation process. It did not ask for any paths (which is annoying) and it also immediately deleted all downloaded packages, so that you could not transfer this anywhere else (which was major annoying as I did not want to do another 1+ GB download via mobile networks).

So I transferred all AD files I could find on DAW #1 to DAW #2 and - hurray - you get a fully working version of AD!

BUT, of course, it is only a 10 day demo with a dialog box explaining how to do the offline registration / activation. When you follow these instruction, you'll realize that they removed all offline activation functionality from their webpage i.e. there is no way to do it.

So you have to get online to activate, but at least here it is quick as the installer does not need any further updates and AD itself only needs to repair 2 dlls to be ready to go.

Cool, thanks for the additional info.   I've been interested XLN products for a while now, but their "online only" method just put me off.  If I can get this work successfully I may consider AK at some point.
