X3 setup files (.bin and extracted temporary files)

Hello guys!
 
I want to install X3 on my laptop that has an 60g SSD. Problem is, I only have 4.30 gigs left on it. As you all know (cannot still beleive this in 2014...) the setup process only extract the installations file on the C: drive.... i'll run out of space...
 
I know there was a thread here about this, but I cannot find it. (tried stup file, bins, extracting... no luck).
 
Can anybody point me back to that thread? It was specific to X3 if I recall correctly.

    The files are self-extracting RAR archives, 7-Zip can extract the files to any location. Then run setup to install. Alternately, I believe reassigning the TMP (or is it TEMP) variable will also work.

    Indeed ! 7-zip... Should have thought about it! Thanks.
     
    As for the temp variable, you're talking about configuring a new location for a temp folder? Good idea, i'll search this up. Thanks again.

    I was talking about moving the temp directory used by Windows for the user. The SONAR installers expand their contents into the temp directory prior to installing. This will not be an issue if the installers are unpacked using 7-ZIP.
