X3 track view navigation keyboard shortcuts

Hello,
I'm just upgrading to X3 Producer from 8.5 (and before).  Started putting an entirely new system together on Tuesday and played the demo project yesterday.  (Also new to forum posting so I apologize in advance for any inadvertent breach in protocols.)  I've always used hotkeys and find I have a lot of relearning ahead, but that's part of the fun of a new setup.

In 8.5 there were 4 hotkeys I used a lot:
F9 to Set From=Now
F10 to Set Thru=Now
F7 to GoTo From
F8 to GoTo Thru

As far as I can tell, the only one of these with a built in hotkey in X3 is Shift-G for GoTo From.  (Sonar X3 Power mentions Ctrl-G to GoTo Thru but it seems to bring up a search window on my install...)  This surprises me, since I would have thought these nav functions were very commonly used.

I know I can create my own, but I prefer to use the standard keys if they exist.  Am I missing these?  Thanks in advance for any input on this.

First of all welcome back, and absolutely no breach in protocol at all - asking a SONAR question in a SONAR forum is exactly how to do it.

In Preferences, a cool feature is that you can search on words. For example, I searched on "from" and preferences found "from = now." It also indicated there's no pre-set shortcut, so feel free to roll your own.

However, note that F9 is now taken up with something else - click on "Locate Key," type F9, and it will show if there's an existing assignment. However I did "Locate Key" and hit shift-F9, and it's currently unused so you might want to use that instead.

There is a learning curve with the X-series so be prepared for that. But it's worth it, I get projects done much faster than I did with 8.5 once I figured my way around. X3 is a great version to jump on board.

Yes many functions have been remapped when the X series was introduced.
    CTRL+F6 to Set From=Now
    CTRL+SHIFT+F6 to Set Thru=Now
Most of the new bindings are shown in the menus and in the help. It is possible to remap some to old conventions.

Thanks Craig for the very helpful info.  The search and locate features you mention are great.

I examined the search and locate areas and one thing that confused me in the results box below the Search window is that the std X3 shortcuts dont seem show there.  E.g., when you search on "from", as you mention, the last result is "Go to From".  Since that entry has the std shortcut Shift-G, I would have thought that an entry in the column labelled "Computer" would show that.  But it doesn't.  Either Im not understanding what that column means or the maps in there are the user-defined ones only.  I'm thinking it's the latter, but I'm probably not willing to put $ on it!

Click on the command to highlight it, and you'll see what it does

Thanks scook.   What's odd is that I had found those key mappings you mention listed in prefs (via the locate key), and altho they show there as you describe, they dont seem to work for me.  And I don't find them in the (offline) help, either, tho the online help may be different.  (Maybe that's why you're saying "most"...)  Always more to learn!
