X3c - I/O not showing drop down options

...turn the computer off for one day...!
X3c - I/O not showing dropdown options.
Audio track1> output = MASTER
I need to route it to a bus, but the dropdown does nothing.
The dropdown for Input works as expected.
 
here is the top to bottom order of events:
Pro-Chanel Strip
 
I = none (L-clicking the triangle icon, works as expected)
O = Master (L-clicking the triangle icon, does not work)
"Track 1" (L-clicking here, the dropdown works and I can select other bus options)
 This is also happening in the Track View I/O.
O.K., It's worse than that.
"Track 1" L-clicking here, the dropdown works and sows the options, but never actually routs to the selected bus.
