X3c Take Lanes: Comp Lane Disappears
I haven't been able to reproduce this at will, even though it's happened several times.
The reason for the post is to find out if anyone else is experiencing this problem. After comping one track, I move on to comp another. At a seemingly arbitrary time (a few minutes into comping the second track) I glance back at the first track and see that its comp lane is now empty.
As I said, I have yet to reproduce this at will, but I think I can prevent it from happening by bouncing track one before moving on to comp track two. I'm not 100% sure on this, though, because at one point, I noticed the bounced version of the track was flat-lined, no audio whatsoever. That could have been me forgetting to double-check everything was set up properly for a bounce; I didn't notice, but it did happen a couple of times.
Also, I can re-comp by just deleting the empty comp lane and regenerating with Flatten Comp.
The odd thing is, it only happened on two of the tracks I was working on today. The other three are still in 'flattened comp' mode and didn't have to be bounced in order to keep the comp lanes from disappearing.
Since some tracks are showing this oddness and others aren't, I'm mystified. And BTW, they're all audio tracks.
Has anyone else experienced this, comp lanes suddenly and mysteriously turning up empty?
[EDIT]: I just thought of a possible cause... Is there a limit to the number of tracks that can be in comp 'mode' (for want of the proper term, if that isn't it)? What I'm talking about is this:
I comped two guitar tracks and the bass track. After each track was done, I did a Delete Muted Takes followed by a Flatten Comp before moving on to the next track. I didn't bounce these tracks, just left them in their flattened state.
Then I started on vox. I did the first vocal track the same way as the instrument tracks, comped, deleted muted takes, and flattened it.
It was while doing the second vocal track I noticed the first vocal track's comp lane was empty.
In all, at that point, I had four tracks that were in a 'flattened comp' state and it was while working on comping the fifth track that the disappearance happened.
So, does all this mean there's a limit to the number of tracks that can be in the 'flattened comp' state before they have to be bounced in order to (I don't know) relieve Sonar of the burder, so to speak, so new tracks can be comped?
Does any of this make sense?
