X3d Audio Dropouts

I'm getting audio dropouts suddenly.  Been working on the same project for over a week, just updated to X3d and now getting 'stalling', i.e. project won't play, wait a bit, try again, audio dropout toast (?) pops up in lower right.  The ONLY variable here is X3d; I haven't added any synths, plugins, nothing.  Worrying.  Anyone else getting similar?

Check your drive usage by opening task manager.

I recently had that problem and it turned out to be Gobbler pegging the drive. The solution for me was to pause Gobbler while in Sonar. There's a button on the Control Bar that allows you to do this.

    Best,

I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

+1. Also please run chkdsk, defrag. Also RESET and rescan your plugins. Thanks.

I too am having issues suddenly after installing X3d.  Is it more resource hungry than X3c?  For larger projects (ones that ran fine in X3c) I am seeing some crackles and dropouts, as well as generally sluggish behavior (e.g., a pause of a second or two between hitting the space bar and playback occuring). I reset and rescanned plugins, the disk is not fragmented.  Opening projects in safe mode (i.e., no plugins) helps but not completely fix the issue.  Anyone else seeing this?

Hi neirbod, sounds similar to my 'sluggish' issue.

I tried CHKDSK as suggested above but when my PC rebooted and attempted to do it I got a DOS message saying some 'recently installed software' prevented this and it then just opened Windows.  I have no idea what this means.

Looks like a windows issue you have which may or may not be related to the Sonar issue. So one issue at a time I guess...
Please run windows update several times, also install the optional performance fixes, reboot and try again.
    Then run chkdsk.

After you have done that (whether chkdsk works or not, let us know) please go to an admin command prompt and run sfc /scannow.

I hope you have backups, if not now is the time :)

    Cheers...

I think that error can be sometimes caused by antivirus software interference with CHKDSK.

Did you get an option to run it during next boot?

Yes, Bob.  That's when the message came up.  Could it be because I've got RAID?

I looked it up the symptoms.... It appears there are Windows issues, hotfixes etc around this... That's why I strongly suggest Windows running update now (first) several times as there are windows fixes for this.

I doubt it's antivirus, it won't be running when booting up..... Cheers.

No (I've got RAID as well), but have you recently changed a drive letter?

Same problem here.  I closed the program and restarted.  There was an automatic Windows update on restart.  Didn't help.

Ok, so here's the latest:  Playing the track, there was an audio dropout near the end.  Just before that happened, the disk loading indicator flashed red, and it showed 97% or so disk loading.  Then it stopped.  So I checked for fragmentation--0%.  Then I copied the project files from my J drive to my C drive and ran the tune from there and it ran fine (42% by the end).  So you'd think it's a problem with the J drive, except there's been no problem 'til today, and it's having the same glitches (sluggish, slow scrolling, white screening during pastes, etc.) others are having, so....
Any way to go back to X3c?

If your J drive is external is there any chance that the removal policy is set to "Optimize for quick removal"? That can negatively impact data streaming (though if it was working fine before that's probably not a factor, but might be worth a look).
