X3d crashing sometimes when a closing project & opening another or when exiting Sonar.

Working on a project (new or existing) Sonar behaves as normal.

But on exiting Sonar, sometimes Sonar would crash.
Sometimes, Sonar would crash on closing a project and opening another.

I have filled in a report (CWBRN-24043). As I cannot say which steps to follow to replicate the problem. I have included my minidumps of the crashes. Maybe a plugin is not behaving correctly and it can be identified?.

Anyone else had these kind of crashes?.

Do any of these crashing projects have 32-bit plugins loaded?

If so, some of these have problems with 64-bit Sonar.  In some cases, plugins having problems perform in a more stable manner through the replacing of BitBridge with a 3rd-party application called JBridge.  Still, though, some 32-bit plugins are just flaky in 64-bit Sonar.

So, please list any 32-bit plugins any of these failing projects have, and we can do some checking into their stability in 64-bit Sonar.

Another thing that can crash things is if your sample rate between your audio interface and Sonar does not match.  That's easy to double-check.

Since there are not widespread reports of similar crashing, this is most likely due to some sort of system-specific set of circumstances, so we should be able to wade through it all to figure it out.

Are you by chance behind in your Windows maintenance?  If so, there are some run-time routines that may need to be updated.  There is software to help determine which routines may need updating, but running Windows Update over and over until all maintenance is applied is the better way to go there, so if you are behind, please consider getting current on maintenance.

Also, is it possible that some drivers are out of date?  Perhaps your audio interface drivers?

And, are you running Windows 8.1, Windows 8, or Windows 7?

It will help us to help you if you update your forum profile signature to include your system specs - you can look at the bottom of mine for an example.  When you do, also make sure to check the box that tells the forum software to always include your signature with your posts, so that we can see them.

Thanks for reviewing and responding to the above questions,

windows application event log should have a really brief description of the exceptions that are occurring.

minidumps are best analysed on the system they were generated from, reason is your drivers would be different from most, as the same is said about mine.

make sure your drivers are all up to date, including any devices you have connected like sound cards etc,..

hope you get it sorted quickly

Yes your first port of call should be the windows event viewer .

Please find the Sonar crash (usual a red exclamation mark item under Administrative Events). Right click the red icon, Copy -> Copy Details as text and paste here. Make sure you get the Sonar crash (should be pretty obvious when you see it).

And I second the update of drivers firmware and windows update, but please check the event viewer first for any smoking gun.

    Cheers...
