You'll need an instrument definition file for your PSR. Search the net to see if you can find one. Check the manual for more information if you want to create them yourself.

If you have no luck searching for one on line I guess your next best option would be to make
you own. There a guide on how to do this here

I'm pretty sure Sonar ships with an XG (Yamaha.ins) file.

You may need to run the xg-reset.syx system exclusive at the beginning of the project to get the keyboard into XG Mode.

It's a long time since I've done that stuff, but I still love the old XG sounds.

I run a dual boot with XP pro on the other partition to the W7 X64 one I'm using this minute but I still have the old XG Softsynth installed on that in preference to that infernal built in Windows one.

It's still works even with an i7 equipped machine and I'll still boot into it when I want some vintage 808 style beatz.

That's my guilty secret shared for the day...

I got you beat there... I have a mini PC (used to be a terminal server client), that runs XP, and has a SW1000XG card in it... It's connected (well, not all the time...) via MIDI...

But, you're right, I think I saw a XG ins file but I wasn't at my DAW when I wrote the mail (still not actually...my boss likes it when I do some work for him too :)
