XLN Authorization Problem [Solved]

For some reason I can't connect to the XLN servers via their online installer. I can connect to the internet, any other site, and other servers for downloads...just not theirs. All anti-virus protection is turned off when I try. I unzipped the file using the native windows unzip option, per their instructions. I also tried running as an administrator.
 
Their support has not been helpful, so I was hoping someone here might have encountered this problem and found a solution.

My XLN installer works as expected on my laptop.
Just logged in, and it is downloading an update as I write this.
Sorry to be of no help.
I am on 1703 on my laptop, by the way.

Edit: On my studio pc (1709) I had to re authorize AD2, but that is normal.

I had this problem temporarily and it cleared itself up the next day. I have no idea what happened. I was beginning to become concerned.

No problems here. I just ran the installer as I write this, and the XLN installer updated itself, and then updated the program.

Can you bypass the installer and go directly to their website via your browser?  I had to do this the other day after updating W10 because it said my installer was out of date.  I updated from their site and all was OK after.

I installed the XLN stuff earlier this week. Initially I had problems with their website, which kept displaying error messages. I ended up moving to a different computer to download the installer. Back on the DAW computer, the installer ran ok without any issues. The installation took a very long time though.

Just updated the XLN installer, Addictive Keys (free version) and AD2. All went as expected. Shut down and restarted the installer, everything looks OK. Running Win10 v1703.

I had sort of the same issue where it hung up as I was trying to update the installer, got half way through dowload and just stopped. I waited about an hour before giving up.    So I quit but now I had nothing! Clicking the XLN icon just would go round and round. Lucky I still had the last installer in my download folder. 
I ran that and this time it updated ,, very slowly. It took a few hours to update everything.  
It might be because of the update to both the on line installer and AD2 that the servers are taxed out. 
 
Bonus was I clicked the Register tab and found I had 3 kit pieces I hadn't claimed and a whole kit! 
Turns out I got four kits, 1 with Professional and 3 with Splat. So I forgave XLN for having a  buggy update interface.

FWIW, mine ran fine. I would generally try a "run as admin" if it seems like permission problems.

Sonar Platinum, EWHO/D, Spitfire, Miroslav, Pianoteq, ....,  Kurzweil.

Well everyone, thanks for trying but no luck. I tried running in admin mode, making UAC as tolerant as possible, checking that ad blocker was off, etc. etc.
 
Lynn, how do you update directly from the site? Seems like that might be the answer.
 
Thought I'd get lucky when I found an older version, but it decided it had to update itself and after downloading the update, restarted and gave the same issue, accompanied by an error message (see below). I also get this if I try to load AD2 from within SONAR. Interestingly, on my product page it doesn't show AD2, only AD1.
 

 
Restarted the computer several times, uninstalled XLN online installer and re-installed, uninstalled again and tried the old version...guess I'll wait to see if support gets back to me. Meanwhile, there's always BFD

Have you tried reinstalling the XLN Online Installer? https://www.xlnaudio.com/install
 
There was an update for it recently, as well as updates for AD2 and AK. It went fairly smoothly for me, aside from the slow download speeds.
 
I don't recall needing to run it as Admin, but it couldn't hurt.

I know it doesn't help that much, but I just did the update on Windows 7 OS with no problems encountered.  I'm up to date with the latest Platinum version.
 
As for the error message, I have encountered that message (within Sonar) when my installation of XLN products are out of date. Mine was some weird registration problem as a result of a system crash and having to do a system restore.  I think you are running into the domino effect (with Sonar) due to the "installer" not installed correctly or up-to-date (unless you've had some system problems).

Craig, I just ran the Installer - I had to unauthorise and re-authorise my PC following the Win 10 upgrade to 1709 before it would work. Good luck.

I had an update issue with the installer as well. I contacted support and in my case they quickly replied:
 
"I'm sorry to hear about these issues. File mismatch errors usually indicate problems with the internet connection. The most common cause is an unstable Internet connection, in which case retrying the download should solve the issue. If this is not the case, an antivirus and / or firewall running in the background may be the cause; it may stop the Online Installer from accessing the Internet. Try either adding the Online Installer as a "trusted program" or try disabling them temporarily while running the Online Installer."
 
In my case, seems that the wireless security settings indeed are the issue: At work I cannot update from the public wireless system, whereas from home it still works ok. Still using the same laptop.

This could be yet another case of W10 screwing up "what once worked before doesn't work now"  thing. 
 
What I would try is to go find all traces of XLN installer in your system and nuke them. 
Now use the link Lynn posted above and start over.

This sounded promising, but I get the same issue with an Ethernet connection.
 
I wonder if this is similar to the 0 byte DLL issue, where something that the installer wants to see no longer exists.

I meant change in any direction about graphic drivers. I saw at included by you error message some errors about calls to functions related to GUI so it was my guess it could be related to graphic API change.

Craig....are you using Samples/Kits from a previous install of AD. I.e. pointing the installer to the directory of Samples/Kits.
I do it that way so I do not need to download as much when doing new pc setup/reinstall.....however I had similar error (Lua...blabla) once and only got rid after downloading all Kits from scratch.

That's what I was getting at in my last post. Yet another W10 issue. It will go down in history as W10 , the OS that ate my dll's.

That's what I was getting at in my last post. Yet another W10 issue. It will go down in history as W10 , the OS that ate my dll's. 




I tried replacing all the files in the Program Data folder specified by the error message with files from a different machine...still no go.
 
Still no response from XLN.
 
Could one of you smart Windows people advise me whether I should just go into the registry and blitz everything that belongs specifically to XLN audio? Think that might help?

It's worth a try, and shouldn't cause any problems. I would uninstall just the XLN installer, not any instruments, go in the registry and delete any keys related to the XLN installer, then reinstall it.

I've never had to do it with XLN, but my suggestion would be:
1) uninstall everything XLN with the uninstallers they provide.
2) Reboot
3) delete any left-over files in Program Files, ProgramData, and users/<you>/AppData/ <find everything>.
On my system I have: AppData/Roaming/XLN Cloud Sync and AppData/Roaming/XLN Online Installer.
Also: ProgramData/XLN Audio
4) delete any registry entries containing XLN
5) Reboot and reinstall.
 
Fortunately "XLN" is easy to search for in both regedit and (File) Explorer.

Well, the plot thickens. I just noticed that AD2 is now in Demo mode? Say's I have 10 days to register?? And here I thought my W10 1709 update went without a hitch. 
It certainly didn't show that before the update. 
So I also need to contact support. There is no way to get at the authorization window. It only shows  after a Windows update changes you computer ID or when you install to a new computer. Opening the on line installer shows all is good and I'm up to date and using the correct computer.  
This has got to be a bug in the new installer and might be your issue in a round about way.
