I just installed the AD2 stuff yesterday and one update was to the installer itself. I was only half paying attention at the time so not sure what else updated.
ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.

I just updated and my 212mb was divided between Addictive Keys and Addictive Drums 2; 63mb went to AK and 149mb went to AD2. Don't know what the updates actually did.

I've had similar updates in the past and ended up with an unexpected free pack of something. Inexplicably. But a welcome surprise.
Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

bayoubill I LOVE LOVE AD2!!!
Ditto. I'm really looking forward to experimenting with the Metal, Black Oyster and Retroplex kits that I picked up this week, thanks to the Bakers. Adding these to Fairfax 1 and Black Beauty, along with the three Studio kits, and AD2 should be able to cover a lot of ground. Like Micky D's says - I'm lovin' it.

I've been holding on to my 3 choices. I hear they are working on new ADPaks so I want to know what they are before I use up my paks. Hopefully they are good. I loved Fairfax 1 but didn't care much for 2.

You cannot use your three choices for new packs. I already asked XLN support and they said no, only current pack and none of the future packs. That makes sense. Your 3 choices are the entry. They'll need to recoup on the new packs. Cash is the only way to do that.

Steve, what are your thoughts on the Metal pak? I do like Metal, but don't really play a lot it.....I'm more of the Black Velvet style hard rock. Can you use it in other styles as well? (I like quick, easy, good sounding drums.......that's why I love these AD2!!!) :)

I grabbed the Metal kit, and on first pass it seems that AD2 is set up in 2 parts per kit. One is the kit pieces themselves, the other is the beats preloaded into them. The Metal kit pieces themselves are not extremely different from the other kits. I have not tested tweaking one kit to mimic another, but with all of the options it is most likely possible. The beats are a bit more aggressive (which can also be gotten from the MIDIpaks). So... to get the highest versatility of sound on the initial offering I grabbed the Sonor Latino Bongos, Mandrinke Djembe and Sangban as the other 3 kit pieces. Of course, the very first thing I did is swapped all of the pieces in one Metal kit for these and ran some of the Metal beats on them. Now that was a rather interesting experiment... "Ethno-Metal"

Very cool Mettelus. That's another good feature of these AD2 kits.....swapping them out etc.....I haven't tried that yet. I have the Reel Machine kit and use it with the Percussion Beats midi pak with the Beat Transformer to get some very cool/good sounding/unique beats/sounds. I actually do this with a lot of the other drum paks as well.....mix em up. Can't wait to try out the Latin/Afro midi pak with some of the other kits.

Honestly, Mesh, I haven't had time to really dig in yet. My basis for selecting it was what I heard from the online demos. I went back and forth and back and forth and back and forth between many of the kits trying to make the decision. Maybe it was more a difference in the beats rather than the samples themselves as mettelus mentioned, but one thing it does have that other kits do not (out of the box) is more toms. Plus, I was also looking at the actual drums included in each kit for more variation, and the metal kit gave me that as well. FWIW, Black Velvet and Fairfax 1 were my first two choices last time around because I just really like the sound of both, and they're fairly different at their core. But I think these three new kits should turn out to be winners as well, at least when used in the right context. Metal-Hop, anyone? Anyhoo.... thanks again to Cakewalk for this generous addition to SPlat, for some of us it's a really big plus.
