XP-1 Pack(s): Opinions?
In case anyone missed this when the servers went down: Dimension Pro and Rapture Expansion Packs available for download, and announced [ here]. For those who were able to grab it, I'd like to hear your opinions on these. I'll add my own comments when Taser effects start to wear off.

Yes pretty cool sounds, i'd rather have the p5 v2.5 update though.

To be honest, these Rapture patches are in direct competition with Absynth 3 - which I just got. I'm kind of regretting getting A3 now

Ok, so someone help me here. I downloaded the expansion pack and I see the new folder "Expansion Pack 1" at: C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Rapture\Programs\Expansion Pack 1 but the new sounds don't show up in my Rature synth. All is fine in my Dimension Pro but not in Rapture. Any ideas?

the new sounds don't show up in my Rature synth. I hope that refreshing the program browser with F5 does it for you. I remember DP's update refreshing automatically; I don't think that Rapture's XP-1 did, though.

Quite a few orchestral sounds / tones were missing in original version of DPro, which are compensated in xp - 1. Thanks Cake.

I am VERY happy with this Expansion Pack. Really nice WAVs and very cool programs. I have Dimension Pro. Seeing that many of the programs have the RGC prefix, I assume Rene did those - I tip my hat. If I had a hat, that is. Thank you very much to anybody involved with this update to Dimension Pro.

Yikes! 4 hours 47 minutes download time! And Cakewalk changed something about 2 months ago so my work connection no longer sees all Cakewalk stuff...

This is a great addition. I knew rapture had a lot of analog sounds in it, and here is the pudding. And DimPro just gets weirder and weirder with the soundscapes. And what is best, if you have both of them you can switch sound files. Yes, they have greatly expanded the usefulness of their synths, esp. Rapture. This sound set should have gone out with the first edition.
https://soundcloud.com/a-pleasure-dome http://www.bnoir-film.com/ there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. 24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the Lord. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

Big analog slant on both expansion packs; that's for sure. There's so much to talk about here; I don't know where to start. That gets complicated further by those gems (as Brandon stated elsewhere) that grab your attention and won't let go. Really well put together, and all those new samples just beg for taking them further. I'll mention one thing in particular that I missed the first time through. Go to the ...Rapture\Programs\Expansion Pack 1\Drums folder for the .mid clips that demo the new drum kits. You'll need to pad out the patterns a little with 'rests' to get them to loop cleanly.

Thanks CAKEWALK .... well yes, a lot of 'dimension' sounds and they're really spatial and nice, but I particularly like the Orchestral sounds in the EXP pack for DIMPRO, and the guitars really compliment the original sets as well!!!
