X-Touch / M2 + Record does not bring Record Option surface in Sonar
Hi Forum, I am new to Forum i have just purchased my Behringer X-Touch and Sonar Platinum Lifetime. I am in learning phase, I am testing (LEARNING) all of the functions step-by-step. Of course I put X-touch into MC mode. I noticed, M2 hold pressed with Record button doesn't bring Recording Option window. Any other button combinations seems to work fine. It would highly appreciated if anyone could help me. Thanks for any answer. kovat53

It normally opens "Preferences/Project/Record" settings in a separate dialog. Works in X2, I can not check with SPlat now.

Tried it on my X-Touch and Sonar Platinum. M2 and Record (on a track) did nothing.

Thanx for all replies! Yes, it should open the Preferences/Project/Report windows, but does not. If you don't mind, after testing all of the functions, I would publish my influence. Meanwhile I have found some other differences between the action of the written and real button combinations. These aren't big issues, but exist. Anyway I love how Sonar an X/Touch work together. BRs

Mute automation doesn't seem to work on X-Touch - which is a bummer.

Mute automation in Sonar works with special "Automatable mute" only. MackieControl works with normal "Mute" only.

Hi Forum, as I promised, after the learning curve I have found the following differences between the written and real button combinations: M1 with Fit Tracks --> does nothing (should show all tracks) M2 with Fit Tracks --> brings a pop-up window for track selection (should show only selected tracks) M3 with Fit Tracks --> does nothing (should show and fit selection) M4 with Fit Tracks --> does nothing (should hide selected tracks) M2 with Record --> clears All Automations Write enable (should show Recording Option dialog) M3 + Display/Name/Value clears display under Value buttons. Perhaps the new firmware will bring solution.

Just out of curiosity, are you using the Sonar overlay on your X-touch? The standard labels on the X-touch do not invoke the correct functions in Sonar.

kovat53 Hi Forum, as I promised, after the learning curve I have found the following differences between the written and real button combinations: M1 with Fit Tracks --> does nothing (should show all tracks) M2 with Fit Tracks --> brings a pop-up window for track selection (should show only selected tracks) M3 with Fit Tracks --> does nothing (should show and fit selection) M4 with Fit Tracks --> does nothing (should hide selected tracks) M2 with Record --> clears All Automations Write enable (should show Recording Option dialog) M3 + Display/Name/Value clears display under Value buttons. Perhaps the new firmware will bring solution.
Whole X-Touch functionality is exactly as it should, nothing has to be corrected in the firmware. The whole "magic" happens in the software (more precisely, in the Sonar MackieControl plug-in). "Fit Tracks" just "press" normal keyboard key: (without modifiers) - F M1 - A M2 - H M3 - Shift+S M4 - Shift+H These bindings have changed (except "F") since the documentation was written for ancient Sonar version. But you can set them in preferences as you want. "Record" with modifiers call no longer official "commands" (depending on version, they do not work) M3 -Name/Value in the documentation: "toggle the disabling of LCD updates". I guess it still does that. As was mentioned, do not forget to use correct overlay: http://forum.music-group.com/showthread.php?9278-X-Touch-and-Sonar&p=69850&viewfull=1#post69850The result should be like: If you want to understand what all buttons do with all modifiers: http://www.azslow.com/index.php/topic,250.0.htmlDuring installation, do NOT set Input/Output to X-Touch, set both to "None" (till you are going to use it INSTEAD of MackieControl, which will bring you ACT dynamic mapping but also a ton of bugs in general functionality...). Open preferences, initialize "Mack.." preset, switch to the "Logic" tab. Here you can select any button in the "Logic control" to see what it is doing (the preset mirroring original MackieControl functionality, was created to test how hard that is but was never tested since I do not have Mackie devices and there was no other volunteers).

Thank You very much Azslow3. As having been reading Forum, your answers have always helped to dig into the deep. Thank you for the suggested link to azslow.com I have "corrected" the layout with stickers, so it equals to your suggested. All the best kovat53

Hi Forum again, Just for your information: I have found another "interesting" behavior of X-Touch / Sonar Platinum. Using ProCh plug-ins, if COMPRESSOR is in, it isn't possible to control other plugins inside of ProCh, for example EQ. In this case M1/Channel <> buttons don't work for changing to other plugins (EDIT is on), only the most upper plugin parameters are shown in displays under VPOTS. IF COMPRESSOR is removed, EQ (better said the next plugin below it) is controllable from X-Touch, but only ONE plugin, namely the most upper one. I tried to change the order of the ProCh's plugin. Result: only the most upper plugin can be controlled by X-Touch in ProCh, the others in sequence can't. If a plugin is inserted into FX "rack", they can be normally controlled by X-Touch, and M1/Channel <> buttons change the P1-0., EQ1-0. plugin parameters (EDIT is on). Best wishes: kovat53

That is known problem with MackieControl since Dynamic ProChannel introduction (in Sonar X1+). ProChannel EQ and Compressor are not controlled correctly till EQ is the first module and Compressor is the second in the strip. Moded version exists, but there was one report about problems with C4 and controlling EQ/Comp (but unclear either that can be reproduces with MCU/X-Touch and either it can be reproduced with the stock plug-in as well). If there will be at least one more confirmation with more details, I can try to find and fix the issue. Other ProChannel modules can not be controlled at all (not even with mod). Note that Mod will probably work with English Sonar localization only.
