Xb crash.

Not really sure what happened but while using x1b and messing around with guitar rig 4 - trying out different presets and such - my whole machine burped and then shut itself down and then restarted??? Since then everything seems to be ok! Curious and it's never happened before with any version of sonar.

I had this happen with a brand new computer, turned out to be the power supply was bad.Put a new one in it and never had the problem again. At the time it seemed like it would always do it when I was using X1. I'm not saying this is your problem, but it is a possibility I guess.

Thanks, it could be. Come to think of it, I have a battery backup unit that everything is plugged into. It was doing the siren thing when I booted up the computer. Reset it and the sound went away. ?? Is that an indication of a bad power supply?

No, it's an indication that the mains power is not making it all the way through and that the power is being supplied by the battery.

Though this could be a problem with the PSU or system memory, it's probably not in your case.

This is typical behavior of a system failure that could be documented in a Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD). You need to list your system specs so we can better help you. By default, Windows is set to automatically restart upon system failure. The problem is usually caused by a device driver or system file. Disable this setting to see the BSOD which frequently lists a driver or system file that Windows names as the source of the problem.

To disable the automatic restart, right click Computer, or My Computer (depending on what operating system you're running), and select properties, select Advanced System Settings, and select the Advanced tab, click the Settings button under Startup and recovery. Uncheck "automatically restart" under the System Failure section. Click OK.

The next you have a system failure, you will get a BSOD. Look near the top and near the bottom of the BSOD to see if there is a file name or device driver listed. Go here to see what a BSOD looks like: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Windows_XP_BSOD.png

If you experience the problem again, write down the device driver, of file name, or Stop error listed in the BSOD and let us know?
