X-fi soundcard recording quality

I am currently running my computer with an X-fi soundcard which is suppose to support ASIO but I can only get MME (32) to work, and the MME doesn’t sound real great (ASIO and WDM don’t even show my audio inputs (guitar) as playing or produce sound.) Any idea’s on what could be causing this? I know I didn’t provide much information but I’m not really sure what’s needed. Thank you for the help.

what operating system are you on? Version of cakewalk? Have you run the Cakewalk’s Wave Profiler? Do you have the latest ASIO drivers? Just kinda basic questions to get the ball rolling if you would please Thanks

I'm using a sys today that has an X-Fi card too, and it's actually pretty decent. Stinx that you are not getting the option for ASIO & WDM. Do they even show up under 'driver mode' at all? Can u force it by choosing one of those in 'driver mode' and the go bk to the 'general' tab and running the wave profiler, and then closing and re-opening the program? Not even sure if that'll do it, but I would think that it would. Can u right click the speaker in taskbar and open volume controls, then options and properties- tick "recording" box and make sure that the right things are checked off in there. As I said tho- I'm not 100% sure that all this will bring back those options. But its definitely worth a shot. I'm satisfied with the X-Fi with ASIO drivers. It's really not bad- or maybe it's because i had such low expectations for it.

hope it works out for ya

Yeah, ur definitly going to want and run the Wave Profiler, let it run, and than re-open the DAW program right afterwards.
