XotoPad updated to 2.2

New features available: Expression mode and isomorphic layouts

Play expressive chords, scales, and melodies on your Windows tablet

Hi everybody,

I just updated my Windows 8/10 MIDI controller app XotoPad to the next version. XotoPad 2.2 is getting closer and closer to being the one-stop multi-touch tool for all steps of your music production.

Main features before 2.2:
  • Trigger the most important chords of over 300 scales with one finger. Find chord progressions the easy way.
  • Play melodies on dedicated scale keyboards. Always play safely and harmoniously, you can't miss the notes.
  • Use faders, sliders, toggle buttons, and XY controls to send MIDI data to your DAW. Control mixer channels, effects, and other gear directly from your touch screen.
New in 2.2:
  • Expression mode for expressive playing.
  • Isomorphic layouts.
The new expression mode can be activated with one tap. Now each note can be pitched with the slide of a finger. It's also possible to send mod
wheel data (or other CCs) to play even more expressive melodies. A "MIDI channel round robin" setting can be used to play the notes on different
MIDI channels. This will allow polyphonic playing on compatible DAWs and synths.

See the expression mode in action in this video:

Secondly, a new isomorphic layout wizard has been introduced. The pads of isomorphic layouts are organized in such a way that the interval from
one pad to the next one always remains the same. This means that chord shapes will always look identical no matter which root note is used.
Learn to play triads and other chords within minutes. Compared to a standard piano keyboard, these layouts are fairly easy to master.

An introduction to isomorphic layouts and their advantages can be found here:

The update is free for all existing customers of XotoPad as usual.

I like Xotopad. I have installed on my desktop (I have a toiuchscreen) and on my surface. If it would send ASCII (computer keys) I would like it even more.
