YE OL Pops And Clicks Issue again in Sonar 8.5

Greetings Esteemed Sonar Guru's!

Like many other bloggers, I too am experiencing some of the same issues with regards to Pops and Clicks.  My scenario may be a little different than what I've read in these posts in that I seem to be experiencing the pops and clicks only during the recording process (which obviously is then heard on playback).

I am not hearing the pops and clicks WHILE recording (even very low level vocal passages, bass, keys... whatever).  When I go to play the tracks back, the pops and clicks are intermittant: starting gradually, building to where the audio is completely garbled, and then decreases and goes away completely.

As I said this appears to be intermittent - I'll record one punch in or complete track and it is just fine, the next time the mysterious pops and clicks will be there...

Now, I can hear you saying, "OK, it's got to be a processing issue with the CPU or something is happening on the PC when the pops occur"... That may be true, however, the CPU and HD meters in Sonar barely hit 3%.  I have gone through the entire song and dance with regards to shutting down EVERY unnecessary process on the PC including Virus Scan, connection to the Internet, rolled back to Firewire legacy drivers, shut down unnecessary audio and video processes...  I've upgraded the (brand New) dual core processor to 8 gigs of RAM, etc...

I am interfacing to 2 ECHO AudioFire 12 interfaces.  Running 48Khz @24 bit - have played with the latency controls - Everything I can think of and the tech support people at both Cakewalk and Echo can suggest...

The fact that the pops and clicks seem to be intermittent, and I can't duplicate the issue at any give time is absolutely driving me Looney tunes!!!

Any thoughts?

.... that's all folks!

If everything's been tried already, there's little to add :o/
Maybe two ECHOs just can't work together in peace?
It sounds like a driver problem, but if that direction's been scanned already, I don't know what to suggest.

Obviously the integrated soundcard as the culprit has been eliminated as well...

Added an hour later: That cumulative disturbance could match the symptoms of a VST with a memory leak. There's been a few threads about it. I don't remember which VSTs were on trial then...

Look for IRQ conflicts. These are always overlooked and they are the cause for these kinds of things
