Hi
Charles. Well I only have the 01V but I think many things still apply.
(I would love the 01V96i
) First thing is you have to let you mixer know to actually send the midi data whenever you move a control or fader etc. It may be dafault to OFF so it won't work then.
Use the MIDI button to locate Page 1
I am pretty sure the Control Change and Param Change need to be ON.
Yamaha assign certain controller codes and things to various faders etc but I am sure you can edit that to taste too.
Now once done it is up to your DAW to map those incoming signals to the various parameters inside your DAW. I use Studio One and that is all very painless in that DAW but you will have to look up your Sonar info to find out how to link those incoming messages accordingly.
The cool thing is that you can record (and edit) any data or moves in real time into your DAW and play it all back into your mixer and it will all respond too. You will also have to let the mixer know to respond to incoming data for that to work too.
It can be confusing sometimes leaving it ON all the time because you might find moving things on the mixer will change things in Sonar etc without you knowing. I tend to leave them OFF until I really want to do it etc..
Hope that helps.
VERY cool mixer!
