Yamaha PSR-295 With Sonar Cakewalk Producer

I tried hooking up my Yamaha PSR-295 to the computer. The computer reads that it is connected but Producer is not reading it. It is supposed to be able to use MIDI, and plugs into a USP port, but Producer is not recognizing it. Help?

If you installed the Yamaha software there should be an application in your control panel called Yamaha USB Midi that will allow you to change the setup / input and output channels. If this is not set correctly Sonar will not see it. Also on your keyboard make sure that your data is set to stream through usb and not midi - my S-08 has that option but can only use one or the other not both at the same time.
