I've gotten to the point where I can't live without Majestic, I wish they'd just port it to Kontakt and be done with it.
If I knew how, I'd port it myself.

 One thing I'll mention about YT as well, You can host VST's and VSTi's inside of Inde pro. It's amazingly powerful that way. I set-up an orchestral patch and layered NI Session strings inside of it, tying it all together through Inde Pro mixer and effects. It's very powerful for patch stacking with other synths. I'm still waiting to hear from them regarding my license serial not registering on their site. I agree with Glen about the interface, I think it's way ahead of Kontakt regarding routing, effects quality is better in my opinion, the mixer in general allows pre and post effect switching and lots of internal routing options. A dedicated control panel that is very usable, great module routing as well. It's a fine instrument that needs better support.

Please let us know what you think about v3 and if the 29euro was worth it. The current seems to work fine for me and I'm apprehensive of introducing a buggy plug to my system

The upgrade procedure had me challenged and for some reason I was having difficulty importing my libraries. In the end I am not sure why because after leaving it for a few days and coming back to it it went fine.
 
For some reason you have to move or copy the image and layer files to a new folder, this is mentioned in the instructions and leaving everything institu in the old root folder does not seem to work. As I wanted to keep version 2.5 installed for the time being an extra 60 + GB disk space is being taken up, but I can reclaim this once I am satisfied I don't need 2.5 any more.
 
Apart form adding the freedom to arrange you samples in any chosen location I have not noticed any major changes. One minor, but useful feature is the keyboard in the GIU now moved to reflect the incoming MIDI. This is useful when dealing with keyswitches. Unlike Kontakt you only see the MIDI relevent to the current layer, IMHO that is a good thing. However I wish they would colour code the instrument ranges as in Kontakt.
 
As for stability. I just knocked up a short test track in Sonar 8.5.3. One instance of Independence and seven layers (drums, bass guitar, Rhodes, sequenced strings and alto, tenor and bass saxes.  Hardly a soak test I know, but it all went flawlessly.
 
I will post again if I notice anything else but it seems to be a minor upgrade, unless you are bothered by the old root folder structure.

A question to users of Independence Pro: I own KONTAKT and that is my reference point for comparison. Do the libraries included with Independence Pro - and I'm thinking largely about the acoustic and tuned percussion -- have a lot of depth to the samples like the more complex or sometimes called "deeply sampled" KONTAKT sample libraries (e.g., SonicCouture, Sonokinetic, Tonehammer, etc.)? How might the velocity layers and round robins in an Independence Pro percussion library compare to a library from the KONTAKT devs I mentioned?

Also, I've read posts that Independence Pro does not have scripting like KONTAKT does. Is that true for 3.0?

One minor bug that cropped up in 3.0 ... was working fine in 2.5.4 is that the output assignment doesn't show changes correctly in the mixer view on my install...I can change from one stereo pair to another and the call out in the view doesn't reflect the change though the actual routing does work..

I have just checked and its the sam on my install. So bug it is.
 
Also +1 on Oragami it sounds great and I really like the fact I can use it as a VST effect outside of Independence Pro.

I would post the question on their forum also but its down for testing for functionality. That's what the message says anyway, but it's been down for days.
 

More like weeks - not sure if they will put it (forum) back up as it seems to be a testament to their support woes.

TBH - I have Inde 2.5 and had no problems with install nor authorization - but on XPSP3 - so sorry I can't help.  Once installed, it's well worth the effort!

I think I'll just uninstall and reinstall with all the default locations and see if that corrects the BSOD in X1.
It definately won't make it worse.
The odd thing about it was that I recorded a short track, about 1 min. long, and all was fine.
The next time I opened the file to record another track the problems began.
Nothing on the system was changed between the time of the two recordings except for the restart of the computer.

No recent contact, I have 3.0 and it works well. IIRC I only needed to upgrade the engine to version 3. However as you are still on the dongle version you stuff is probably older than mine was when I made the upgrade.
