Yet another screenset - PRV Editing
Here's a screenset for PRV editing that may come in useful for single screen users. It will obviously work on multi monitors but probably not the best way I can think of. As always there's some set up but once done it's there forever. Some bug fighting to do in this one as well, but as usual the bugs lose................ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRjOTpkLAFA Hope it's useful to someone.

Good schtuff here... I actually like how you organize the screensets as well. Did anyone tell you that you have an FM voice?

Several people have said things about my voice after hearing me sing. I don't think FM was mentioned though. Thankee RFBB! I subscribed so I don't miss anything. Hey, Karl. Not to rain on your parade - as we say over here in the colony - , but I'm wondering what the advantage is of using the Console view to switch tracks like that, rather than just opening all the MIDI tracks in the PRV, and using its built-in track pane to control what track(s) are displayed/heard/editable?

@Keebo.... Thanks @brundlefly. Probably not much really, you gain a little bit of screen real estate on the right which is life & death for some apparently. I also think that it's a little quicker/tidier working with multiple tracks, unless I missed something with the track pane. Hiding and showing gets quite click intensive if there's several tracks and want to view only one lot of data at a time. Clicking is also life & death. But I take your point there is some reinvention of the wheel going on, which I guess could be levelled at most of my videos. Don't feel bad about raining on my parade, I get used to being rained on here in the motherland.

FastBikerBoy Probably not much really... Right. Okay. Always good to have alternative ways of working. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something big. I hate it when that happens.

Interesting tutorial, thanks! Bug workarounds are always a worry, though I learnt a few things from this. :)

This a great way to work on individual drum tracks- snare, kick, hats, etc. - Take a snare away, change some kicks, do a drop, etc. Just save it as a screen set to select. I may incorporate this into my flow- Thank you! Lance

Thanks for the thanks. @Eyes. Yeah the bug(s). I think the first scroll bar jump is probably a Windows thing. It doesn't happen with the multidock, only when a Window is floated and then I presume it's following MS convention but I'm no programmer. The second is annoying but it's hard to pin down exactly what is going on, it may not even be a bug but it doesn't make much sense if it's by design. I can understand that if the track selected in the CV isn't visible in the TV then obviously it can't display it as the active track. The strange thing is if there are a couple of tracks hidden in the TV (say 19 & 20) when I click on track 28 I would expect that to still jump to the display area that I made, but it doesn't I might end up with track 23 showing. It also seems to be a MIDI track thing as well rather than audio. I've not reported it yet, mainly because I can't seem to get an exact recipe. Every time I think I've got it I get a different result and TBH I haven't the time to spend that much longer on it, especially as it only shows itself in those particular circumstances. i.e. This once when I set the screenset up and then only when I first ran through it for the video. I never noticed it at all when I set mine up for the first time. Perhaps it was introduced in C or expanded or more likely I had all tracks in the TV showing so never saw it. @Lanceindastudio. That's a good point Lance, I'd never even thought of that. I guess that shows how we can get ideas for our own workflow by sharing the way we work as individuals. I guess if you took 1000 X1 users and asked them to show you the way they work you'd get 1000 different methods.

FBB, just wnated to say thank you for the videos. Being relatively new to the more in-depth functions of sonar its awesome to have more resources to fall back on and learn from. I wish that there were more constructive people on these boards when it comes to resolving issues rather than acting like one-upmanship 5 year olds on a playground. Me

Yep, unfortunately there's always some nay sayers ready to spread a bit of misery. I feel sorry for them personally. Thanks for the kind words anyway.

Thanks Colin, if only one person gets a bit of inspiration or somerthing out of it, it'll have been worth while.
