I "imagine" they had to hit the mute button on a lot of her wailing and shrieking on the record after John promised her a part. Honestly I cannot stand this woman. I walked past her and her fawning entourage in the West Village a few years ago and she gave me such a pompous look as if to say "Yes...it is I...Yoko Ono. I dare you to say something." I actually LOL'd.

Apparently they showed a video of John saying that she deserved a cowriting credit. If he said that, I don't think we can dispute it.

My favorite Yoko story is the one from Geoff Emerick's book. He relates the story of Yoko in the studio, and he and Lennon at the console. She's in there doing her creative caterwalling and John gave Geoff a sly grin and they both lost it laughing and ended up trying to hide under the console so she would not see them. She did notice and was furious with John. I still smile thinking about it.

Honestly, I have never been moved by Imagine, so it doesn't bother me much. And Lennon is at the top of my list of influences. Jealous Guy was my piano song from that album and if she had anything to do with it, it would be a little painful. Most songs on that record were far more interesting to my ear.
Love the studio story of her "creative caterwalling" - hilarious.

Apparently she also co-wrote some of the Beatles stuff. One day she was waiting for John and Paul to finish something they had been working on for some time and getting increasingly bored. The music was all more or less in place, but they had come up with hardly any words and having heard them just singing a few lines and humming the rest a thousand times over she finally snapped and said...oh FFS just let it be!

Not the Larry you're thinking of (the Portland guy). I have met another Larry Crane. Multi-millionaire, author, etc. that was involved with the Sedona Method (a "releasing" technique that works great).

As Slugbaby pointed out ... she also tried to wreck another historically significant performance by Lennon, Clapton, Richards and Mitchell (Dirty Mac) during the Rolling Stones' Rock and Roll Circus.

You used to be able to watch the live performance of Whole Lotta Yoko on youtube but apparently they must pull them down as they go up ... in any event here is the live version of Lennon, Clapton, Richards and Mitchell fronted by Yoko. Being a drummer and on a personal note, I can almost feel Mitch Mitchell pain and suffering when the camera catches his eyes as he looks up.

Well, Sgt. Pepper is now 50 years old. Who can say what happened that long ago with the lads and Yoko.
She was with Paul and Ringo and Mrs. Harrison last summer when the Beatles LOVE was retooled after a 10 year run at the Mirage here in Las Vegas. It looked like everyone had a great time.

She may have influenced a lyric or two, but I am fairly confident that Lennon would have written this song as a hit without her.
