Your Favorite EZ Drummer EZX kits?
I just took the plunge to buy EZdrummer 2. I never realized how cool the features were in v2, and I got a sweet deal at Time+Space for it (97 Euros using a 10% customer loyalty coupon). With the promotion, I can pick a free EZX expansion. What are your favorites? Which do you recommend and which should I avoid? I'm mostly into Pop, Rock, and Folk. No metal for me. Unfortunately, I didn't get this in time to buy in on the additional sweet deal for the Rock! EZX. Boo.

I don't have many, but from what I do have, Rock! is very good. Southern Soul is on my list to purchase, just waiting on a sale. The DW Kit in EZD2 or Rock! are my go to kits for EZD.

Agree that ROCK! is pretty good. Progressive is excellent. Indie Folk is groovy. And as mentioned Southern Soul is top notch.

Yep be sure to check the sample list ....i have some redundancy with some of my electro pack ....but they treated those and the producer doing it is not one those trap wanna be producer ...if yo know what i mean ...i used to layer drums on my own for a while now ... and i buy a mot of dry kits just for that purpose....the job they done is serious, classy and versatyle ....my only complaint is as usual those lack of control of soundqèans those fx that we have not enoght controls....

Thanks for the suggestions so far. More are welcome. I'm leaning toward the Southern Soul but I'll give an eye out for the Hip Hop. Those aren't in the sale but they can be the free option. I might pick up another kit or two while their on sale as well.

Love the Southern Soul kit. The Blues kit would be great for acoustic and folk. Theres a sheepskin kit and even a suitcase to use instead of a kick.

I believe it was Danny Danzi that made a great point for the Made for Metal EZX. If you compare the options inside the mixer section of any of the EZX's you may find more options for different things. With EZD2 you can swap out kit pieces with one another, so you may use the mixer section of Made for metal with the drums from Southern Soul (for example) and get more flexibility...depending on what your wanting to do.

I use Superior 2 but I have purchased a few of the EZX librarys to fill out my needs a little. I have SDX librarys but I found that some of the EZX librarys have great room sounds. Out of the EZXs I find myself using ROCK!, Nashville, Jazz, and Vintage, along with Latin Percussion mainly. Latin Percussion is a must if you do those sort of tracks. Nashville is very UNDER rated!!!! I've used it on countless Blues, Rock, Country, Jazz brush kit, Pop, etc....... It fills just about any void you would have.

I have Superior and a number of the Toontrack add-on's such as Metal Foundry, Music City, C&V and also some Slate Drums, CLA add, etc... so those are my general go-to's for drum kits. Have a number of the EZ Kits but generally use the Latin Kit or the Electronic kits. They provide easy access to some sounds that may not be available in other kits, all-in-one. Very useful. Occasionally use Nashville, Jazz or Pop as well. They are all pretty decent. It really depends on the style of music you are doing. For Pop, Rock and Folk, certainly Latin could work in any of those genres and Electronic is useful for Pop. I often use the Kicks from the Electronic kit as a 2nd Kick in Pop or Rock songs to give it some more bottom end and dimension. If you are looking for your main go-to kits, these probably would not be your best choice. As enhancement for what you already have, something to consider. Regards

I really like the Nashville EZX. It is one of the more versatile kits in the EZX collection as it works on many styles of music and sounds great. If I had to pick one kit that would be it. Cheers, Billy Buck

Yep. It's excellent too. I'm hooked on EZDrummer, as I can always find a kit and a groove to match the folk/country/americana music I write. I tried using Session Drummer and then AD when it came bundled with Sonar, and they say Superior Drummer is top of the line, but for me EZD is the best value/program.

Nashville is almost a must with EzDrummer. A step up in sound from the bland pop/rock. Very good if you like a well-balanced track and don't require the drums to really drive the tune. One of the Rock types can give you that extra thud if you're looking for that.

I probably should have mentioned that Nashville is more than just a country kit....I don't play country...it was recommended in this forum many years ago as a perfectly EQ'd, solid kit that will work with any genre. I use it in Superior Drummer and pretty much igo to it on most projects. I used a few comp and EQ setting from the Steve Slate and other mixes to make Nashville sound even better. Mostly I just swap out the different snare included and pitch them up or down.
