Your favorite Youtube music videos?
After playing around with an app called "iLike" on facebook (you can get tons of free indie-band MP3s and watch music videos with it), and realizing that most of the music videos were actually linked to youtube, I started exploring. Great stuff! The sound is obviously not CD quality, nor is the video DVD quality, but still, a fun way to pass some time on a slow day! Here's a few lovely tunes I found today....add your links too. It could be interesting to find out what kind of music some members are into. No genre restrictions. I may be a rocker, but I like everything from classical to jazz to metal! Danko Jones - The Sound of Love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjE_04rmH1g Our Lady Peace - Somewhere Out There (that falling girl is smokin hot!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUydbxt6oZs Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qKGZ4Ysy5M&feature=related

Sweet. I've always had a soft-spot (well, maybe a hard one too) for Sheryl Crow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3piWXq_y20 And Green-Eyed Lady sure takes me back. Good stuff!

Here's another, which I like for a number of reasons. For one, it was the height of punk-rock in the UK, all the 'dinosaurs' of prog-rock supposedly swept away by the rising tide of safety pins and plegm, and here they were, not caring tuppence. God love 'em. This was before Ian Anderson became a career megalomaniac too.. Jethro Tull - velvet Green It's also worth mentioning that David Palmer (the dude with the bow-tie and beard, on keyboards) is now a 'lady' - 'Dee' Palmer. Hands down, the ugliest woman you'll ever see I also love the sound of that little Martin parlour acoustic, just wonderful.

Hello, We licensed our tune for this CBS/Showtime promo for the TV show "Dexter." Warning: the protagonist of this show is a "loveable" serial killer. I don't really get it and it is quite violent, but apparently a popular show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_q939DvMdck The Dexter piece uses "parody" lyrics, but there are 100's (maybe 1,000's) of montages done to the actual tune. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=88+lines&search_type= Originally recorded in 1980 on a 4-track Teac 3340S, mastered for $145.00 on a 1950's Scully lathe with 1940's drivng amps, EQ and JBL monitors and released on our own record company on a 12 inch EP. The version on YouTube is our major label re-recording. The tune has shown to have "legs" as they say in marketing. I guess my favorite is any video that uses my tune, but I do like the one "in drag." GK

Simple idea, brilliantly executed. Yup, it's such a great success story too! An unknown band on a low budget, they got the lead singer's sister to choreograph & shoot the video--I read somewhere it took 17 takes. Now, 42 million hits on YouTube later (and I think they won a Grammy for it, too), I hear that song on pop radio all the time. Just goes to show you a little bit of creativity can outdo all the big boys in the industry.

Max Webster - The Party http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3RJnmTwjck Oh hell, dude - thanks!! This is what I meant by a "I wonder if....?" search - hadn't thought of MW in years - takes me back...... And all of the Andy McKee stuff - been aware of him for a couple years now. Guys like him are why I just laugh when people tell me I'm a good guitarist - can't even get my head around technique like that.....
