Your interface of choice?
Curious as to what interfaces everyone was using, with what OS, and what version of Sonar. Me, I'm on an EMU 0404 with Sonar 6.2 and Running XP SP2. I've pretty quickly outgrown the EMU, so I'm now looking into new options. lots of people like MOTU but generally the recommend it for their Macs. I'm thinking RME may be the way to go, even if it's fairly $$$$. So again, what's working for y'all?

Hi there Andy Not Sonar I'm afraid, but Guitar Tracks Pro 2 & 3 and Music Creator Pro through a Line 6 Toneport UX2. After a few teething troubles, now running happily with Vista. Best wishes Steve Edit = Typo

E-mu 0404 PCI, XP, Sonar Home Studio 4 Plenty of flexibility for my needs (which are few) and couldn't beat the price (0404). Good luck with your research.

Thanks for all the replys so far gents. From everything I've read it seems that RME is one of the best ways to go, but damn if it ain't pricey! I've got a 7CA kit on it's way soon as well, so while mic pres aren't the most important thing, it never hurts to have a couple of extra, right? :)

MOTU 8pre http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/8pre Personally I like MOTU because they put LEDs on the front that show your input levels Oh, I used to own a EMU 0404 but it seemed kind of weird in XP x64.

I'm using a Mackie Onyx 1640 w/fierwire, Sonar 7, XP Pro SP2. I also have a MOTU 8 Pre and it worked great I just needed more inputs to record my drums with so I went with the Onyx. If not for the need of more inputs I would definitely recommend the 8 Pre. Mike

EMU 1820m, XP Home, 2GB RAM, Sonar 6 PE, Project 5. If I had to go out and replace the 1820m, I'd probably get the 1620m, as I've had excellent results and few problems with their gear. (Their current state of tech support is another story entirely).

Yeah, EMU support is bollocks. I've been tempted to go 1620m myself, but I'm just really not a fan of PatchMix, and I'd like to start building a decent rack of pres and compressors, and the EMU wouldn't rack well. Also, I'd eventually like to go *glances around* Mac, so FireWire seems a great way to go. Argh. So many good choices! That's why I've been using the EMU for so long, it was farily functional and I didn't have to choose something else! :D
