Yujo 2017 update

Just a quick plug-in. Pretty much club orientated EDM with a Japanese theme. In a way I was influenced by a track called Bells of Tiananmen. Planning on doing a much mellower mix this as well.

Don't know anything about this genre, I imagine it would work well in a club though. Mix sounds fine to me, maybe the open hi hats were a bit over powering in the first couple of minutes.

Perhaps I did wrestle with them in the drum mix however I think it was because I put more emphasis on the higher mid/treble as I found lower frequencies make the part darker sounding. If I had a vocal part that may have been more ideal to fill out that part of the frequency spectrum.

I know it's not everybody's cup of tea so I appreciate the listen. Had a second listen, the problem is the low-end mainly. A parallel kick which phases ever so slightly.  The hats you mention, I think I could automate the volume more. The louder it got my judgement started to fail a little.

It's a learning exercise after all.

Decided I might pull it down for the moment until I fix  a couple of issues.

This is great.  Getting easier (roughly speaking)?  I still take a long time with the synths.

Working on finer details again. Discovered why my system was being latent. This second mix should be a bit easier to manage as I know what mistakes not to make.

Thanks for the comment by the way. However I'm working on some amendments to it and hopefully a cleaner sound.

Next project should be less frantic and noisy.

You're quite talented.  You don't overlook the big picture yet you can also operate on the micro level

Cheers. Well you can only improve if you want to.

The biggest concern for me was plenty of reverb but not drowning in it. The overall loudness was monitored using tc electronic lm1n. I was aiming for -20lkfs before limiting. Still need to get my head around that system having using the k-scale for so long now
