Z3TA+ file is not a virus!!!!!!!!

The following Z3TA+ file that is found in the "Arpeggio" folder:

mid2cmp

is now considered by McAfee to be a low level virus. My virus protection just started recognizing this as a virus today. Here is a link to the description that it gives.

http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?affid=108

Has anyone else run into this? I thought that the file may have just become infected. So I deleted it, reinstalled Z3TA+, and then used McAfee to scan it again, and I got the same result.

Maybe René can shed some light on this.

    Z3TA+ file is a virus??????
Nah, man. You need to install the Virus Mod for that.

Maybe because it's an executable? I don't know for sure: 'net and audio on separate boxes here. That file is the doorway to creating your own arpeggio patterns. The info's in the read me; same folder. Because you place a MIDI file to be processed anywhere in that Arpeggio subfolder, maybe that has something to do with the red flag going up.

It's a little tool to create arp files from midi for the z3ta, included in the installation. I'm sure it's a mistake on McAfee's part. The tool's been around for years, probably has a similar profile to a real virus out there, causing a false positive. Or a true negative. Whatever. My guess. You could ask McAfee to check.

Some viruses/worms attach themselves to existing executables.

I caught one called Gaelicum which turned half my windoes executables into a filthy worm infested compost heap.

Here's alink to some info, cleaners http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,14834647?hilite=gaelicum

Did you erase the file before reinstalling?

    Yes. I did the following:

So I deleted it, reinstalled Z3TA+, and then used McAfee to scan it again, and I got the same result.

Today, I scanned that same file again and it is clean. I don't know why it is clean today, and why it still showed up as a virus a few days ago, but it's good now. I just wanted to give everyone a follow up. Sorry if I made anyone nervous or anything!!!!!!!
