Z3TA from PC to Mac issues

Hi

I've just been trying out the z3ta 2 Demo which sounds amazing but i'm having a problem. I'm using it on the PC and Mac but when i move the project between computers its say Z3TA is missing. I know i'm using Cubase and it probably works fine with Sonar but it's strange because all my other plugins move between mac and pc and back fine.  Either machine can't find Z3TA when the project has been created on the other machine.

I"m using the latest demo version on both mac and pc. 64bit on both. In Cubase 7. Windows 7 on the PC and Mountain Lion on the Mac.

Has anyone else had this or know a workaround?

Thanks
Sorry for bringing Cubase into a Cakewalk zone.

Could it be that Z3TA+2 is a VST2 plug-in on Windows and a VST3 or AU on Macs?

You're right Scook. Apparently Cubase requires a "Plugin ID" to be identical to open up the correct plugin's in projects.
Z3TA2 on the PC has the code z3t2, which i found out using VST Scanner.
You can change these codes with a hex editor. So i'm going to see if it i can fix it. i got the info from a soundonsound post about resolving plugin conflicts. I can't post the link but google those terms and it will show up.

I've been doing some more research.

So usually it is possible to trick your daw into opening up another plugin by replacing it's ID.
Every plugin has an ID and you can edit it with a hex editor. I've done this succesfully with Kontakt so that my projects with Kontakt 4 open up with Kontakt 5. Native instruments use new IDs with each plugin as there can be incompatibility problems. For me this outweights a bigger problem of having to reprogram all my projects when i upgrade plugins.

Also plugins between Mac and PC usually have the same ID so projects can work cross platform. Z3ta has a different ID on the mac from the PC as the mac uses a newer vst3 specification. However these ID's are harder to hack as they are 16 characters long. Whereas vst2 IDs are only 4 characters long.

If i could wrap the Mac vst3 Zt3a into a vst2 plugin i could create a 4bit ID. I can't see Cakewalk having the resources to update their PC plugin to vst3 so maybe i need to improve my hacking skills.
