Z3ta+2 arp - is it really just me ??
I've asked this before, but didn't get anywhere. A CW product specialist said that they have never heard of a problem with the arp before, despite issuing a patch that amongst other fixes claims to have dealt with the arpeggiator getting "stuck". Problem is this.......Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Not project specific, not a CPU/RAM issue as it makes no difference even if it's the only thing in a new project that has nothing else in it. There's no real pattern I can find as to whether it will work or not, just have to load it and see. The sound it loads by default is an arp pattern. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes just a single tone. If I change patches it makes no difference. Once it stops wotking, it never works again in that session. Closing and re-opening Sonar (8.5PE) sometimes works, but often doesn't. Likewise with re-booting , re-scanning vsts. When it does work, if I use it. freeze it, then unfreeze the arp is gone. Re-freeze and I get whatever notes were played without the arp pattern. CW clearly not interested, so .........anyone else ?

No - this is a well known bug that has gone ignored now for over a year...it's related to how your DAW handles sync to host. Any preset that includes synced settings (Arp, LFOs) will sound wonky in some hosts (Cubase being one) See this thread at KVR - http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=5374578

I use Cubase 5 and I get no synch problems with the arp, I have been using zeta2.1 just for 1 month, still have to check if everything works right.

Thanks for responding - at least I know it's not just me now. My host DAW is Sonar, so I would hope that a CW instrument should be compatable. As per usual, a little bit of interest from CW followed by....................

Well - I have sync issues in C5 (and C7): Try this Grunwaldt: - Load a new project in C5 and add Z3TA+ with a midi track and controller routed to it. - Select a factory preset that uses the ARP function - pretty much anything from the Arp or Sequence banks - Turn off snap and randomly set the transport position - Play a note....you should either hear nothing, a hung note, or a blippy note...but no arping - Now press play (hit spacebar)...the arp pattern should begin - Hit the spacebar to Stop and the preset hangs again - Turn on snap (to bar) and click the timeline to set the transport cursor - Viola - the preset plays all arpy again, like it should I'd be very surprised if you cannot recreate this in Cubase 5. Likely you've always had your project snapped to grid and recorded stuff with the project playing., or you've never dialed in an arped or synced preset.

Well, you're probably right 1 2 Many. I've never used arps in the sequencer itself, I just use the arp feature to see how the preset sounds. So it might not be a problem for me. I would be more worried if something like that happens with synched lfo's or synched delay times. That would be annoying. As I said, I'm pretty new to Z3TA.

I get this as well. Embarrassingly for Cakewalk this happens in their own SONAR X1,,,, changing presets doesn't help, deleting and re-adding the synth to the track doesn't help either. Only thing that you can do is save and restart the host. This does not happen on the standalone version.

Thanks for responding - makes me feel a little better that it's not just me. Maybe when CW have stopped fiddling with the forum software they will actually fix some of the things we have paid for !

Of course you realize that the web group is not the application development group. So one has nothing to do with the other.

Yeah, I'm just ****in' and moanin' . They'll ignore it anyway, just like they're ignoring the problem, but it makes me feel better ;)

I haven't really used it outside of Sonar, but you are right. I cannot replicate the fault at all in standalone mode - works every time. Clearly a Sonar issue then. Kind of makes it worse knowing that they didn't even bother to test it properly with their own host program.
