Zero G Spiritoso - 64bit Only??

Hi
Just received an email regarding the launch of Zero G's Spiritoso - so I had a look at the website and listened to the audio samples which all sound really good - whilst probably not a library that I would buy, something caught my eye in the requirements details on the web page - and I quote:-

" REQUIREMENTS Kontakt's Time Machine 2 algorithm requires it to run entirely in memory. It is recommended therefore that you use this in a 64bit environment with over 4GB RAM. Kontakt version 4.2.2 or above needed."

First time I had seen this - does anyone know if this really is only for 64bit systems?
Are there any other library's that demand this specification?

I ask as I am still 32bit and had not planned to upgrade for a while yet -  is this the beginning of the end for us 32bit users!!!!!!

May be not the beginning of the end, but the end of the beginning for sure.

Its saying recommended, not required, so it will probably work in 32 bit, but don't hold me to that. But even if it does work, I would not count on running much else at the same time.

The ever growing sophistication of Kontakt and some of the third party libraries do demand a lot of resources, particularly these time streach applications, Kontakt could just be the first big application to be 64 bit only.

hi there, I'm Dan Graham - I produced this library for Zero G.

Maybe it should've been more clear, but what this means is that your OS needs to be 64bit to be able to comfortably load these large patches (each nki is about 800MB to 1.2GB).  However, there's no problem using a 32bit host, i.e. the 32bit version of Sonar running on Windows 7 64 bit, because Kontakt will load up the sounds outside the Sonar process, in 64 bit memory space.

Hope that makes sense!  Yes I think libraries like this do reflect the fact that now that a lot more people have a 64 bit OS with plenty of RAM, new options are open to create these large memory hoggers.

    :)

Thanks for the reply and firstly I have to say this library did sound good!
I did understated the requirements - unfortunately I still use Windows Xp 32 bit, so until I have to upgrade (I suppose I should say forced to upgrade!) I'll just have to miss out on this - a real shame but....
On the bright side, I'm sure by the time I have upgraded, you'll have produced some more fabulous libraries for me to spend my money on!

I noticed a Dagmarpiano on the FX Teleport forum. I assume you are one and the same! So a question - if I were to upgrade one of my computers on my network to windows 7 64 bit, but continue to use XP 32 bit on my main work comptuer, could I get FX teleport to work correctly - I could therefore make the 64 bit machine my dedictaed Kontakt machine. If FX Teleport will not work like this, is there any other program or work around that would?
My dilemma, which I cannot think is unique, is that my system (high spec computer,  XP with Sonar 8.5.3) is absolutely rock solid and does probably everything I will ever want, well certainly for the foreseeable future - this is one of the reason I did not jump on the Sonar X1 upgrade initially - then I saw all the dreadful problems so have held off indefinitely.
I can live without packages like Spiritoso for the time being but it is reasonably obvious that this will just be the first such 64 bit only product.
Any help, advice or opinions from anyone welcome!
    Thanks
    Nigel

    Hi Bajan Blue

Fx Teleport MIGHT work and it might not - it's getting old now, with no support.

A really great modern replacement is Vienna Ensemble Pro (made by Vienna Symphonic Library), which also streams audio and MIDI over your computer network and would work great for your setup.  You do need the syncrosoft dongle though I think....

    Hi
Thanks for this it does (I think) seem to do everything I want - not particularly cheap but looks good. The dongel is not an issue as I seem to have a small forest of these now!
The only problem is it does look pretty complicated - yet another bit of software to learn - arrrrrrggggggggggggggg

Has anyone actually used this with Sonar.
I think I should start a separate thread for that question.
    Thanks again for the information
