Zoom R24 and SONAR

Hey there.
 
I currently have the M-Audio Fast Track Ultra and for some reason with Windows 8 it is iffy.  I got it to work, but I get a lot of latency in Windows and in SONAR it's hit and miss.
 
So I was looking at a couple of DAW/Audio Interfaces and the ZOOM24 caught my eye.
 
Anyone have any luck with the ZOOMR24 in a Windows 8/SONAR X1 or X2 environment?
 
If not, what is the best audio interface to use with SONAR (priced under $1k)?  Thanks.

I had an RME once.  Loved it, but it wasn't compatable with VISTA so I had to trade it in.
 
What I would love is a control surface/audio interface in one that is proven to work both in Windows 8 and SONAR X1 or X2.
 
I want to be able to record multiple tracks at once and control the recording process from the CS.

the huge advantage of the Zoom R24 is, that you can record anything without the need to have your computer and/or DAW around. I record my stuff with a BR-80, I can take it with me whereever I go, I record stuff in the basement if my wife gets annoyed by the noise upstairs, I can take it to the rehearsal room and record our lead guitarist etc. After recording, I just create a WAV-file within the BR-80, and then import it into X1.
