Zooming in to Track Makes Waves Disappear

I am working on a project and I have not ever had this issue before I am towards the end of mixing and realized that my kick is a little late.  When I go back to zoom in close to fix the late kick, the waves disappear but I can hear them. If I zoom out to a certain distance they come back but I am not close enough to fix my issue.  Has anyone else ran into this and how do you fix it?  This is very frustrating I have one kick out of place in a good mix, what could be different about this one track?  I can zoom in to any other track just fine no problem but My kick track which is the first track won't allow it.  Thanks in advance

I took a chance and started bouncing clips and the audio waves came back, so it appears because I was splitting the waves up and taking out what I did not want caused them to disappear and bouncing the new smaller clips brought the waves back can someone explain to my why they would disappear by zooming in tho?

Have you tried clearing the picture cache?

I've had it happen a few times (not in X3) but never did figure out what the cause was.

The location is defined in the Preferences > File > Audio Data "Picture Folder" entry. It is cleared by deleting the files in the directory.
