a "click" when I start the track

I hear this click/snap sound but it's not recorded into the wave form. ie I can cut out the first measure of the track and it is still there. If I paste onto another track it's still there. Anyone know what causes this & also what to do about it? It is for a session I did for someone else & can't redo the tracks. thanks!

    Hi there Charles

Is it a regular click you hear or does it sound random to you?

If it's regular, it could well be the metronome that's set to sound on playback - to turn it off, click on the button as shown below (also shown is the 'Metronome during Recording' and the Metronome options window - click on the button shown).

Hey Steve - Just 1 click at the beginning of a track. I think it may have to do with fx? but it is the same even with fx off. sometimes I can "cut it out' - even though nothing appears on the wave form. Other times I just have to mask it. It is just with this 1 group of recordings - all done in the same day. Maybe the file just got corrupted...

Charles, that's not the metronome for sure then.

Is it just on one track? Try soloing each track in turn to see if that's the case.

Just one other thought, even though you say you can't see any obvious culprit, try using the horizontal zoom over the point where the click occurs, you might be able to see it after all and cut it out.

Just one track. I'll try the zoom - I haven't done that yet. thanks.

It's very strange Steve - even with all trax muted I'm still hearing the click. I can work around it & it shouldn't be a problem unless it continues in future recordings.

    Yeah that's really strange Charles.

If you can workaround the problem that's good, I was just thinking however that you could, as a last resort, export all the audio tracks from the project and import them back into a new project, one at a time.

Laborious I know but then you'd know for certain that the anomaly was somehow embedded in the original project.

Yes I've done that before, one or 2 times & it works. It is laborious as you say because there's no way to export the vst's.
